It’s time for jingle bells…and LEGO bricks!
Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group released today three new holiday-themed LEGO Star Wars shorts, all clever stories of celebration in the galaxy far, far away. There are two non-verbal tales: “Chewie’s Holiday Cheer Up,” which finds Chewie’s friends plotting a Life Day surprise for their Wookiee pal, and “Tenoo Treasures,” set during the High Republic era, which sees Yoda recruiting Padawans Kai and Lys from Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures for some wreath building. “’Twas the Night Before Life Day,” featuring full voice acting, tells of a white bantha game on the Death Star — that is heavily tilted in the Emperor’s favor. The all-ages shorts are filled with themes of friendship and giving, as well as LEGO Star Wars’ classic brand of humor and in-jokes, making for a most impressive addition to your holiday viewing this year. You can watch them below, and read exclusive commentary from the Lucasfilm’s Franchise Content & Strategy team Jason Stein and “’Twas the Night Before Life Day” writer David Shayne…

Coming October 1 exclusively at LEGO.com and at LEGO Stores, it’s a massive release in the UCS tradition, consisting of 5,374 pieces and measuring over 12.5 in. (32 cm) high, 43 in. First introduced in the iconic opening sequence of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in the Battle of Coruscant, the Republic Attack Cruiser would go on to be featured throughout the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and other tales across mediums. With the debut of AHSOKA a little over a month away, the marketing machine at Lucasfilm is starting to kick things into gear with the release of an all-new full trailer for the upcoming series. We pick apart the new footage looking for hints and clues. INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY is finally in theaters and we share our reviews and opinions. Director James Mangold is moving from Indy to STAR WARS as he’s currently prepping his “Dawn of the Jedi” film. We have some fresh comments from Mangold about not only his upcoming STAR WARS film, but his scrapped BOBA FETT film. Plus, listener voicemail prompts speculation about the upcoming Rey Skywalker follow-up film starring Daisy Ridley, and PUPPET LANDO is back with the world premiere of his all-new song, “This Deal Is Getting Worse All The Time”.
Today, Disney+ and Lucasfilm announced that “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures” Season 1 continues with six all-new episodes. The new episodes will debut on Disney+ beginning August 2, 2023, with more episodes to come later this year. In total, “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures” Season 1 will be a 25-episode run.
Set during The High Republic era, the animated series follows Jedi Younglings as they study the ways of the Force and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi. The series was recently nominated for a 2023 Television Critics Association Award and was awarded a Common Sense Seal from Common Sense Media, which acknowledges outstanding media that families can enjoy together.
The first seven episodes from the series, which premiered May 4, saw the Younglings train with Master Yoda and Master Zia at the Jedi temple on Tenoo, meet pilot and fast friend Nash Durango, and clash with pirate Taborr Val Dorn. The six new episodes will follow the Younglings as they continue to hone their Force abilities and go on adventures across the galaxy.

The trailer opens with a startling act bys Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson), a red lightsaber-wielding antagonist whose ultimate intentions are yet unknown. “We are no Jedi,” he says coldly. We also get our first full look at a visually arresting Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), who Ahsoka believes is planning to return as “heir to the Empire,” as well as Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) via recorded message. The trailer features more of General Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), both in the cockpit of the Ghost and addressing New Republic leadership, including Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), in an impassioned plea. Finally, we come to understand more about the strained master and apprentice relationship between Ahsoka and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). “Anakin never got to finish my training,” Ahsoka says. “I walked away from him just like I walked away from Sabine.” It all ends with a look more exciting teases of what’s to come in the epic series.

Disney has announced that they will no longer be releasing a Star Wars film on December 19, 2025. Instead, they are planning on releasing two feature films in 2026, seven months apart, on May 22, 2026, and December 18, 2026.
The first film on that list will come out just three weeks after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is released in theaters (Disney has also moved around Marvel’s release calendar). The company has not announced which movies will come out on each date. However, the most likely scenario is that this is the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy-directed film they were targeting for 2025 and that due to the writers’ strike, they had to press Pause on for the moment. Meanwhile, the December date is likely the Dave Filoni-directed film that will culminate the overarching story told in The Mandalorian and spin-off shows during the New Republic era…
I got the chance to sit down with the incredible Charles Soule to discuss his new book, The Endless Vessel, as well as teases for what’s to come in The High Republic and the upcoming Star Wars comic crossover event, Dark Droids!
While the future of big-screen Star Wars storytelling is still largely wrapped up in mystery, we were treated to some concrete details about one of the movies during the last Star Wars Celebration. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, we will have a story set 15 years after the end of the Skywalker Saga, in a new era known as the New Jedi Order. This story will tell the rise of a new group of Jedi who have to face a challenging galaxy while being taught the ways of the Force by Jedi Master Rey Skywalker.
In the second of two articles (you can check out the first one here), I will speculate on where Rey might choose to train her Jedi candidates. With a whole galaxy of planets to choose from, the list is virtually endless, and there’s a good possibility the location will be somewhere entirely new, but I’ve tried to narrow the list down to locations that I believe have a good reason to be chosen as a starting ground for her Jedi Padawans…
At the last Star Wars Celebration, it was announced that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be directing a new film set in an era dubbed the New Jedi Order, set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. This film will see a new generation of Jedi rise up to face new challenges under the tutelage of Jedi Master Rey Skywalker. Little is known about this film, but we can perhaps make a guess at who might share the screen with Rey and where the film might take place. That is what I intend to do, starting with a breakdown of potential Jedi trainees in this first article.
It’s most likely that these Jedi will be fresh faces as we follow the path of a new young group of heroes venturing out into the galaxy. But there’s a possibility that one or two familiar faces may pop up to learn the ways of the Force under Rey’s tutelage. In this article I will speculate on which canon Force-sensitive characters could fit into the timeline of this film.
I’ve restricted my list to candidates of the academy, so I will be ruling out established Jedi Knights such as Cal Kestis and Ahsoka Tano, as I believe they would be Masters in their own right, assuming they are still around at this point in the timeline. With that said, let’s dive in!…
We listen to a new audio release of the original “Wilhelm Scream” recording session from the 1951 film “Distant Drums” and famously later reused in STAR WARS along with hundreds of other movies, TV shows, commercials, and video games. We review the history of the famous recording along with vintage RFR interviews featuring STAR WARS sound designers Ben Burtt and Matthew Wood.
The galaxy has been thrown into chaos as the Jedi Knights, who for generations brought peace and order, have been betrayed. The Age of the Empire has begun, as Emperor Palpatine, a former Chancellor of the Republic and a Sith follower, takes control with brutal repression and increasing control over his people. But as the Emperor tightens his grip, some begin to question his motives and means. Others, whose lives were ruined by his actions, wait like unexploded bombs, ready to ignite. It’s amidst these dark times that Star Wars: A New Dawn takes place, the first novel created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Story Group. Set between Episodes III and IV, it tells the story of two characters from the animated series Star Wars Rebels, revealing how they first met.
John Jackson Miller, the author, has crafted a story that feels like classic Star Wars, with a diverse cast of intriguing characters mixed with humor and depth. It’s an adventure full of action and surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Fans of all ages will be able to enjoy this well-written novel, which has received high praise from critics. Coffee with Kenobi says, “A New Dawn brings us into this new dawn of storytelling with energy, excitement, and characters that have become instantly ensconced into the Star Wars vernacular, and the results will satisfy Star Wars fans of many different palates.”
So, immerse yourself in this gripping tale and witness the birth of a new era in the Star Wars universe. The book is sure to leave you wanting more and eagerly anticipating the continuation of the story
Which sequel trilogy characters do we hope to see in the New Jedi Order movie? Who will be the antagonists in the film? These questions and more answered in this week’s Q&A!
