The next STAR WARS film to come through the pipeline following THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU will apparently be helmed by Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy. We look at some new casting rumors and gather up clues about what this movie will be all about. Back in 1978, the legendary rock band Jefferson Starship performed a song on THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL, but did you know their current stage manager Todd Mills is a huge Star Wars fan? Todd joins us “In The Cantina” to discuss the band’s appearance on the infamous “Holiday Special” and to provide his answers to the famous “Yoda Questionnaire”. We look ahead to next month’s animated TALES OF THE UNDERWORLD and dive into the RFR Vault for an interview with one of the voice actors from the upcoming series. And as long as we’re talking about voice acting, we pay tribute to the original voice of The Emperor in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, the late Clive Revill. Plus, we continue to countdown the days until ANDOR season 2 debuts and more!
We’ve felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. Or, in other words, we’ve got some less-than-great news on one of our most hotly anticipated new Star Wars movies. You know that new Rey movie with Daisy Ridley that was announced at Star Wars Celebration last year? The one being directed by Ms. Marvel‘s Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and written by Steven Knight? Well, according to Variety‘s reporting, Knight has cancelled his trip to a galaxy far, far away and won’t be penning the picture after all.
Having previously replaced Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson on the project, which is set 15 years after the events of The Rise Of Skywalker, news of Knight’s departure comes as production ramps up on the prolific writer’s Peaky Blinders movie starring Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan. We’ve no word on the reason for Knight’s exit…
The veteran sound artist was among the first crew members to work on the Star Wars prequel entry.

The first person to watch the initial assembly of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999) wasn’t director George Lucas. It was then-25-year-old Matthew Wood of Skywalker Sound. As he tells StarWars.com, picture editors Ben Burtt and Paul Martin Smith had spent weeks with Lucas at Skywalker Ranch compiling the first rough version of Episode I. Hours long and far from the refined cut that audiences would see, it was up to Wood to review it and make notes about voices that needed recording.
“Paul and Ben ran out their sequences on video tapes for me,” Wood recalls, “and as I walked into their office, they were all stacked up really high on the table. George Lucas said, ‘Well, here you go, Matt. You’re the first person that’s going to watch the whole movie from beginning to end.’” George was obviously watching everything between the two editing rooms, but they hadn’t screened the movie in its entirety yet. This was the first output of the movie, and I had it in my hands. The Ranch has these bikes so we can ride between the buildings, and I put all the tapes in the front basket and rode back to the Tech Building….
A new cast member has been confirmed for the upcoming THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU feature film. Cassian Andor himself Diego Luna discussed the upcoming ANDOR season two at D23 and we have the highlights. STAR WARS writer Michael Kogge joins us In The Cantina to talk about his junior novelizations of the Sequel Saga which feature alternate scenes from the films, the Star Wars Radio Dramas, and his upcoming JOHN CARTER FROM MARS: THE AUDIO SERIES. Listener feedback leads us to analyze a puzzling scene from RETURN OF THE JEDI.

With his hotly anticipated MCU joint Deadpool & Wolverine barely a snikt away from hitting cinemas, director Shawn Levy could be forgiven for taking some time out to bask in his summer blockbuster’s imminent box office glow. Instead, the filmmaker’s focus is already turning towards the other big franchise film on his horizon, the as-yet-untiled Star Wars movie announced back in 2022. As reported by THR, Levy is getting set to reteam with The Adam Project scribe and frequent collaborator Jonathan Tropper to take viewers to that galaxy far, far away….
The Star Wars universe is full of incredible sights that very few people have seen.

With Star Wars Celebration returning to Japan next year, we’re highlighting 12 Japanese Star Wars movie posters exhibiting designs used nowhere else in the world.
By Pete Vilmur
Many Star Wars collectors have long coveted items produced exclusively for fans and audiences in Japan, be it toys, food premiums, apparel items, or posters.
During the original trilogy era of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, marketing teams around the world were often given broad latitude to create Star Wars poster campaigns to suit local tastes and sensibilities, resulting in a rich variety of advertising imagery. This tradition shifted during the era of the prequels, however, when the same key advertising imagery was utilized across all markets around the globe, with the exception of — interestingly — the US, which did not enjoy the expanded poster campaigns seen in Europe and Asia. There has been a return in recent years to some regionally exclusive poster designs, including in Japan, again giving fans and collectors an opportunity to add a truly unique poster to their collection. As Star Wars Celebration heads back to Japan in 2025, StarWars.com is revisiting some of those rarities.
The following 12 Japanese Star Wars movie posters feature designs and/or illustrations used nowhere else in the world, making them especially appealing to fans wishing to collect each unique poster from a specific title (or every title!). You will notice that prequel posters are conspicuously absent from the list, as there were no poster graphics created exclusively for Japan during that era….

“Star Wars” is great. And when it isn’t great, it’s interesting. Or weird. Or hilarious. Or baffling, moving, annoying, profound, stupid, and inspiring. When you’re a film franchise with nearly a half-century of staying power, you can be a lot of things. You can be everything.
/Film has been publishing articles about the “Star Wars” saga for as long as we’ve existed. We’ve waxed nostalgic about the original trilogy. We were on the frontlines of the “Last Jedi” wars. We’ve even watched as the prequels journeyed from “universally hated” to “begrudgingly respected.” We love “Star Wars.” And we sometimes love to hate “Star Was.” But we mostly love “Star Wars.” Like, a lot. Even the dumb stuff (especially the dumb stuff).
That brings us to this article: The 100 Greatest Star Wars Movie Moments Ever…
Star Wars creator George Lucas changed the title of the first movie to A New Hope, and the explanation behind his decision is very interesting. Episode numbers and subtitles may be an essential part of the Star Wars saga now, but that wasn’t the case when the original movie came out in 1977. This reflects Lucas’ original expectations for Star Wars and how his plans changed after the movie became an enormous success.
A New Hope also started the tradition of Star Wars movie titles with multiple interpretations. Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, and The Last Jedi either had different meanings or significance that weren’t clear right away. However, there is a clear explanation for A New Hope’s title and why Lucas retitled Star Wars in the first place…
