Lucasfilm is gearing up for a massive cinematic comeback, with reports indicating that three brand-new Star Wars trilogies are in development. After focusing heavily on Disney+ series in recent years, the franchise is finally preparing to return to the big screen for the first time since 2019. The studio already has individual films lined up beginning in 2026, but these new trilogies suggest a far more ambitious long-term plan for the Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Behind the scenes, Lucasfilm is undergoing a major creative reset that’s quietly reshaping the Star Wars brand. This change stems from both industry realities and a renewed artistic philosophy.
Kathleen Kennedy has emphasized that Lucasfilm now wants to empower filmmakers to tell personal, standalone stories that don’t have to fit neatly into existing timelines or rely on nostalgia-driven connective tissue….
Starfighter has wrapped filming, and New Jedi Order might start soon! Plus we’re covering some of last week’s news and the final issue of Jedi Knights!

Today, Disney+ released an exciting special look and unveiled a brand-new poster and images for the highly anticipated second season of Lucasfilm’s Emmy®-nominated thriller “Andor,” which returns for its long-awaited conclusion on April 23. The special look offers a glimpse at the making of Season 2 of the compelling series, in which the characters and their relationships will intensify as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound.
Rife with political intrigue, danger, tension, and high stakes, the series is a prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction: The Death Star, setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film. “Andor” sets the clock back five years from the events of “Rogue One” to tell the story of the film’s hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation from disinterested, cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.
The final season will unfold over 12 episodes broken down into four chapters of three episodes each. The first chapter will premiere April 23, with subsequent chapters debuting each week.
“Andor” Season 2 stars Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Elizabeth Dulau, Alan Tudyk, with Ben Mendelsohn and Forest Whitaker. The series was created by Tony Gilroy, who also serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna, Luke Hull and John Gilroy. Tony Gilroy wrote the first three episodes, with Beau Willimon writing episodes 4-6, Dan Gilroy penning episodes 7-9 and Tom Bissell putting pen to paper for episodes 10-12. The directors for the series are Ariel Kleiman (Eps. 1-6), Janus Metz (Eps. 7-9) and Alonso Ruizpalacios (Eps. 10-12).

Never trust a pirate.
Scoundrel. Scoun-drel?
Sure, it’s cute when Han Solo says it in that flirty voice of his. But no one likes the sound of that word when they cross paths with an unscrupulous pirate in the galaxy far, far away!
With big personalities matched only by their greed, the pirates running rampant in the New Republic typically have no qualms about taking advantage of anyone and anything in their way. You’re probably already acquainted with some of them, like Gorian Shard and Vane.
Soon we’ll have even more names to add to that list, like Gunter, Brutus, and SM-33 (played by Nick Frost). Before we meet these spacefaring scalawags in the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, let’s take a closer look at the pirates who have already crossed paths with some of the galaxy’s greatest heroes. All hands on deck!…

Simon Kinberg is heading into hyperspace, signing an expansive deal to write and produce a Star Wars feature trilogy.
Kinberg would spearhead the launching of a new saga in the beloved galaxy far, far away, and will write the scripts for what Lucasfilm hopes would chart a brand new path forward for the sci-fi space opera universe.
Lucasfilm topper Kathleen Kennedy will also produce the new trilogy.
The new story is not meant to be a continuation of the Skywalker Saga, the name of the overall arc of the popular and pop culture-dominating Star Wars movies known as Episodes 1 through 9. The intent here is to have brand new characters and a new story, and not have it be a continuation, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. (Although that does not mean that some characters could not or would not pop up.)…

5 October 2024 – Seattle, WA and Petaluma, CA: A new chapter in the Star Wars universe is being written, not in a galaxy far, far away, but right here on Earth. The Saga Museum® of Star Wars Memorabilia aims to bring together four of the world’s largest Star Wars collections—comprising over 1.5 million objects—into one groundbreaking, immersive experience. This highly anticipated museum will offer fans a galactic range of exhibits, programs, and amenities designed to be both fun and inspirational, while celebrating the rich legacy of Star Wars. Plans for the new museum were announced Saturday night at a fundraising event at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP).
“Since Princess Leia’s spaceship first sped across the big screen and our collective consciousness 47 years ago, Star Wars fandom has continued to grow and evolve,” said Steve Sansweet, founder of the nonprofit Rancho Obi-Wan, the world’s largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia as recognized by Guinness World Records. “This new museum is for everyone who has ever felt inspired by Star Wars and its continuing legacy. It will be a place where the creative minds of tomorrow can come and dream.”
The mission of the nonprofit is to share the fun and excitement of Star Wars and to deliver a robust suite of meaningful educational, aesthetic, intellectual, and cultural exhibitions and programming for multiple generations.
“Our intention is that this combined Star Wars memorabilia collection will serve a higher purpose,” Sansweet said. “The legacy of Star Wars is coming full circle to help teach science, technology, robotics, engineering, art, and mathematics in this new museum.”
The founding collections at The Saga Museum are from some of the most renowned Star Wars collectors in the world:
Steve Sansweet—Rancho Obi-Wan: Executive Chairman and Founder of Rancho Obi-Wan, Steve’s collection is certified by Guinness World Records as the largest Star Wars memorabilia collection globally. Steve was Director of Content Management & Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm for 15 years and is the author of 17 official Star Wars books.
Gus Lopez—Bobacabana: Creator of the Star Wars Celebration Collecting Track and co-author of several Star Wars books and many articles. Gus’ collection includes rare and one-of-a-kind items like original art, toys, awards, and screen-used movie memorabilia.
Duncan Jenkins—The Sithsonian: Known for his international presentations at Star Wars conventions, Duncan’s collection is one of the most comprehensive in the world, with a focus on international and unique memorabilia. He has also coauthored four Star Wars collectibles books.
Lisa Stevens & Vic Wertz—Imperial Archives: Lisa, one-time president of the Official Star Wars Fan Club and Star Wars Brand Manager at Wizards of the Coast, and Vic, former associate editor of Star Wars Insider, have a collection rich in modern toys and high-end limited-edition collectibles.
“The Saga Museum is a natural extension of Rancho Obi-Wan,” said Anne Neumann, President of the nonprofit museum located in Petaluma, California north of San Francisco that opened to the public in 2011. “Rancho Obi-Wan has inspired thousands of visitors through the ‘Force’ of imagination. Our intention is that The Saga Museum will build on that mission and legacy.”
The founding team, with decades of experience in collecting, curating, and preserving Star Wars memorabilia, has been consulting with museum professionals and fundraising experts to help ensure the success of this new venture. The Saga Museum has launched a campaign to raise $2 million for a two-year planning phase, which will involve working with cities across the United States to identify a permanent, engaging world-class museum design firms, hiring an architectural firm to draft renderings, and executing a capital campaign to fund construction.
“We want The Saga Museum to be a place where everyone, from hardcore fans to casual visitors, can experience the magic of Star Wars in new ways,” said Neumann. “It’s an opportunity to explore how these stories have impacted not just pop culture but the world at large.”

Lucasfilm’s Jason Stein and writer David Shayne talk to StarWars.com about bringing galactic cheer with these charming tales.
It’s time for jingle bells…and LEGO bricks!
Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group released today three new holiday-themed LEGO Star Wars shorts, all clever stories of celebration in the galaxy far, far away. There are two non-verbal tales: “Chewie’s Holiday Cheer Up,” which finds Chewie’s friends plotting a Life Day surprise for their Wookiee pal, and “Tenoo Treasures,” set during the High Republic era, which sees Yoda recruiting Padawans Kai and Lys from Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures for some wreath building. “’Twas the Night Before Life Day,” featuring full voice acting, tells of a white bantha game on the Death Star — that is heavily tilted in the Emperor’s favor. The all-ages shorts are filled with themes of friendship and giving, as well as LEGO Star Wars’ classic brand of humor and in-jokes, making for a most impressive addition to your holiday viewing this year. You can watch them below, and read exclusive commentary from the Lucasfilm’s Franchise Content & Strategy team Jason Stein and “’Twas the Night Before Life Day” writer David Shayne…
