Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

StarWars.com celebrates the year’s biggest announcements, most-anticipated releases, and favorite moments.

By StarWars.com Team

We weren’t even two weeks into 2024 when we got some of the biggest news of the year: The Mandalorian and Grogu are headed to the big screen! But while we wait to find out what the Clan of Two is up to next, there were plenty of exciting stories, bittersweet send-offs, and other announcements, anniversaries, and releases in the Star Wars galaxy. We said goodbye to Clone Force 99 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch and said hello to Kay Vess in Star Wars Outlaws. It was a year that brought not just one, but two(!!) new live-action series to Disney+. The LEGO Group put a fresh spin on the LEGO Star Wars galaxy with Darth Jar Jar and we celebrated the debut of the original Gungan 25 years ago in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Always two there are, right? And the Empire loomed over New York City for one unforgettable evening. As we count down to the end of 2024, here are our favorite Star Wars reveals, releases, and moments that made us excited to be a part of the galaxy far, far away….

NYCC 2024: StarWars.com Fan Spotlight

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

From Jyn Erso to Emperor Palpatine, cosplayers at New York Comic-Con shared their love for Star Wars on the convention floor this weekend.

By Paige Lyman

New York Comic-Con 2024 is in full swing and we’ve already spotted a host of Star Wars cosplayers including Padmé Amidalas, stormtroopers, and Dark Side favorites like Kylo Ren, Darth Vader, and the Stranger roaming the convention halls.

Here are just a few of our favorite cosplays and the stories behind their Star Wars journey to NYCC

Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla

Joy and Raphael, a couple from Florida, brought their shared love of Star Wars Rebels to NYCC as Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus respectively. Though Raphael had seen the animated series before, the two watched it together during an important point in their relationship and got an early head start on their cosplays.

“We started putting together the cosplays before I started watching the show,” Joy says laughing. “We thrifted a lot. Sewing stuff, gluing this, cutting that, and then waiting.”

The two have been cosplaying as Kanan and Hera for about six months and they’ve received encouraging reactions each time. “People love it,” Raphael says. “It’s fun. And I’ve been building on it every time. It helps with my stress and everything. As we all do, in our normal lives, we need an outlet for something.”…

Darth Maul – Black, White & Red Coming April 2024

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

Benjamin Percy, writer of issue #1, talks to StarWars.com about the sinister Sith.

Dan Brooks

Twenty-five years on from his debut in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul continues to fascinate fans. Whether it’s his look, his deadly agility, or evolution into underworld mastermind, Maul connects on a number of levels. And of course, there’s that lightsaber, still undeniably awesome.

So it’s little surprise — and welcome news, which StarWars.com is excited to reveal — that Palpatine’s Sith apprentice will be the focus of Marvel’s next gritty Black, White & Red tale. Star Wars: Darth Maul – Black, White & Red will be a four-issue miniseries, each installment written and drawn by a different creative team….

Rumor: No New Movie Before 2024 At D23

The Star Wars film hiatus after The Rise of Skywalker is set to continue for at least one year longer than initially anticipated.

After the underperformance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm hit the pause button on Star Wars films ahead of the ninth Skywalker Saga episode to reassess the situation. Some projects have remained in limbo, such as a potential trilogy of films written and directed by The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson (who has opted instead to focus on making sequels to his whodunit mystery film Knives Out), and a Rogue Squadron adaptation by Patty Jenkins (who has seemingly put the project on pause in favor of working on a third Wonder Woman film, which is expected to be her last). Other projects have been reworked into television series, with planned spin-offs for Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett being turned into limited series with potential for more. There have been a number of films that have been placed into the pipeline with no word on whether or not they’ll move forward, such as Taika Waititi’s film (which may film as soon as early next year), and with Damon Lindelof speculated to be writing a Star Wars movie script right now.

Unfortunately, it seems like we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get news on the theatrical front. A recent report from the Puck News newsletter (run by former THR editor Matt Belloni) talked about what to expect at Disney D23 ahead of the opening Friday, and the picture painted says that Lucasfilm want to keep their cards to their vest until they’re completely confident in where to take the franchise next on a theatrical front. In short, don’t expect a new Star Wars movie to come out until 2024 or later. Check out a screencap of the newsletter below…
