For three seasons, we followed along with Star Wars: The Clone Wars spinoff THE BAD BATCH and all of their adventures. Among the troopers was the young clone Omega, who quickly emerged as one of the most likeable Star Wars characters to come along in quite a while. Joining us “In The Cantina” for the very first time is Omega herself, Michelle Ang, who shares stories from behind-the-scenes at THE BAD BATCH along with how she relates to Omega and more. You will find Michelle as likeable as Omega, probably more.
In this deep lore breakdown, we explore the disturbing legacy of Vodal Kressh, a rare Sith prodigy whose mastery of alchemy rivaled even Sith Emperor Vitiate himself, and whose discoveries on the cursed world of Athiss were so dangerous that they were erased from Sith history. Tracing the anomalous Kressh bloodline back to Ludo Kressh, this video examines why Sith alchemy is considered the first great sin, how Kressh’s voluntary following terrified the Emperor, and why both Jedi and Sith ultimately chose to seal and abandon Athiss rather than control it. What Vodal Kressh uncovered was not merely forbidden knowledge, but something so existentially threatening that even the most powerful Sith in history chose silence over domination.
The Return of the Jedi entry into the From a Certain Point of View series comes out in a couple of weeks! I got to read all forty stories, so here are my spoiler free thoughts on the book!

Blue milk hot cocoa, caroling bounty hunters, and more from a Lucasfilm tradition.
By Pete Vilmur
In December 1977, after Star Wars had spent six months taking audiences to a brand-new galaxy far, far away, Lucasfilm began sending holiday cards to friends and corporate partners — a tradition that continues today. The very first Lucasfilm holiday card, which was an unassuming, Hollywood-themed greeting card, was probably sent to a few hundred recipients in 1977 and subsequently relegated to the backs of drawers — or worse — after the holiday season. The unfortunate fate of that first card would never be repeated, however, since the following year’s Lucasfilm card would debut two of the company’s most recognizable assets: droids C-3PO and R2-D2. And so began a long line of Star Wars-themed holiday cards issued by Lucasfilm over the years, a selection of which we are featuring here. Fans of legendary Star Wars artist Ralph McQuarrie will be delighted to see several of his works, which were exclusive to these cards, with most created between 1978 and 1983….
To mark 10 years since the release of the first sequel trilogy film, go back to the literal drawing board to uncover how concept art helped define a new era of Star Wars storytelling.
By StarWars.com Team
As we mark the 10th anniversary of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which premiered in theaters December 18, 2015, StarWars.com looks back at the film that launched the sequel trilogy.
On December 12, 2012, production designers Rick Carter and Doug Chiang, along with David Nakabayashi, creative director of the Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) art department, gathered at Lucasfilm headquarters in San Francisco to handpick a “dream team” of concept designers for the first film in the nascent Star Wars sequel trilogy, later titled Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
That team, nicknamed the “Visualists” by Carter, included concept supervisors Ryan Church and Erik Tiemens, who, along with Chiang, were directly mentored by Star Wars creator George Lucas during their time leading the JAK Films art department for the Star Wars prequel trilogy. It also included ILM concept supervisor Christian Alzmann, the four of whom would go on to form the core design team of Chiang’s Lucasfilm art department for projects ranging from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to the 2026 theatrical release The Mandalorian and Grogu, as well as future Star Wars production designers James Clyne and Kevin Jenkins, to name but a few.
This year, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of both The Force Awakens on film and The Art of The Force Awakens, my first book in the long-running Art of Star Wars series, on bookshelves. The latter charts the full visual development of the film from concept to screen from within the art department, and the selections below demonstrate how vital that work was in bringing co-writer and director JJ Abrams’s vision for the first chapter in a new era of Star Wars storytelling to life….
Discover the forgotten Sith ritual known as the Mark of the Dark Lord, an ancient symbol of supremacy, divinity, and absolute authority within the Sith Empire. In this deep Star Wars Legends lore breakdown, we explore what the Mark truly meant, how it was earned through brutal ceremonies, and why it ultimately went extinct. From the rise of the Sith kings and the Dark Jedi conquest of Korriban to Naga Sadow’s agonizing coronation and the unprecedented moment when Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma both bore the Mark, this video uncovers the true origins of the Dark Lord title and how it evolved into the Sith traditions we recognize today. If you want to understand the ancient Sith religion, lost rites of passage, and the legacy behind one of the most feared symbols in galactic history, this Holocron is for you.
Welcome to the Archives…. Jedi in Training, Daily Star Wars Videos! NEWS, THEORIES, SPECULATION and REVIEWS!
As Star Wars was being developed back in the mid-70s, the maverick special effects crew at ILM were pioneering new filmmaking technologies in often unconventional ways. In the early days, machinist Stuart Ziff found himself thrust into the action on day one. In the years that followed, Stuart used his skills in a variety of ways at ILM including working on Return of the Jedi creature costumes like Admiral Ackbar, Nein Nunb and Ree Yees, and on many projects from Dragonslayer to Ghostbusters to Jurassic Park. This week on RFR, Stuart joins us In The Cantina to share fascinating stories about working on the Star Wars Original Trilogy and beyond. Plus, our review of Star Wars Visions season 3 and Jimmy Mac had the opportunity to see a Star Wars Holiday Special legend perform live in Chicago. Listen to find out who it was!

Learn about the creation of the rebel game Five Hands and other fascinating behind-the-scenes facts from the making of the Star Wars series, with the first three episodes now streaming on Disney+.
By StarWars.com Team
If Five Hands — the game the Maya Pei Brigade plays to solve their internal disputes deep in the jungle — looks familiar, that’s because Sam Gilroy created it based on the playground staple Rock Paper Scissors.
The actor behind Gerdis this season and actor Benjamin Norris, who plays his rival Bardi, initially inspired their characters at a family dinner, his father and creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy tells StarWars.com.
“I went out for dinner with my family. It was a big, long dinner table and I was at the end of the table with my son and Ben Norris,” he recalls. “It was a big, rowdy, drunken dinner.” Their antics gave Gilroy an idea for the series, adding a bit of levity and allowing a new take on the burgeoning rebellion. “So I went back and I started writing Heckle and Jeckle in the woods.”
As the character grew, Sam Gilroy crafted the Star Wars spin on the hand game by not only introducing alternative gestures, but also adding several layers of complexity. In Five Hands, there are 15 animal gestures, including rancor, snork, and snoozbird, which are displayed by two players in three rounds overseen by a referee.

The showrunner joined cast members to share favorite memories and a glimpse at Season 2
By Lucas Seastrom
The premiere of Andor Season 2 on Disney+ is a month away, and that means it’s time to rewatch Season 1. Creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy recently got in on the fun during a live stream with host Ash Crossan, and they brought some members of the Andor cast along with them.
There was plenty to explore about the critically-acclaimed first season, with a few hints about what’s to come. Here are six new insights from the discussion….
1. Tony Gilroy’s favorite scene from Season 1 might surprise you.
It’s a quiet moment on Morlana One at Corporate Security headquarters, but the meeting between Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) and Chief Hyne (Rupert Vansittart) is Tony Gilroy’s favorite scene from Season 1. His reasons are those of a storyteller eagerly watching an audience respond to his work on the screen….

As the 2024-2025 Holiday Season comes to a close, we’d like to share images of the Lucas Company holiday cards from 1977 to present. Although this is not a complete set, it’s really close. These cards were sent by employees of Lucasfilm, Lucas Arts, Lucas Digital, ILM, Lucas Learning, Lucas Licensing, JAK, Skywalker Ranch, and other companies to friends and colleagues. They are unbelievably hard to track down, but collectors have made it their mission to hunt these down over the years. Not all of them are Star Wars themed, but many are…
Our opinion on Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) is about as easy to pin down as the man himself (and it’s not just because he has more aliases than Ezra Bridger). One minute it seems like the gruff exterior is just a façade, the next he’s literally holding a dagger to a kid’s throat. But we suppose it’s a helpful lesson for Captain Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) and her crew: it’s probably best to sleep with one eye open while Na Nawood is around.
Our crew has just learned that the bucket of bolts that carried them away from At Attin is none other than the storied Onyx Cinder, the vessel once owned by dread pirate Captain Tak Rennod. Jod is thrilled to discover they’re on the legendary pirate captain’s old ship, but the journey has started to take its toll on the rest of the group — especially Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers). He just wants to get home! SM-33 reveals he doesn’t remember At Attin’s location, but Captain Rennod kept a record of the coordinates at his secret lair beneath Skull Ridge Mountain and Fern orders him to take them there….
Neel takes center stage this week as our travelers reach their destination and find a world that bears strange similarities to their own.
By StarWars.com Team
We’ve loved Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) from the first moment we laid eyes on that carefully combed blue hair and his adorable snout. But this week our adoration was cemented by his kindness and bravery in the face of life-threatening dangers.
Using the coordinates from Kh’ymm’s observatory, our crew travels to a planet that looks much like At Attin, but reveals itself to be a far different kind of place. Neel, KB (Kyriana Kratter), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) quickly realize that though many things about this planet look familiar, the world of At Achrann is in a constant state of war. The air is filled with ashy smoke, so thick Jod can taste it when he steps outside. Buildings are bombed-out shells with trees growing through them, evidence of a conflict that’s been raging for a very long time. The kids leave Jod (Jude Law) with the ship and go in search of directions. They soon meet Hayna, a capable young warrior from the Troik clan and the daughter of its leader, General Strix….
As a kid whose life was profoundly changed by Star Wars in theaters in 1977, the anticipation for the Star Wars Holiday Special on television the following year was high. It’s hard to imagine there was a time when there was very little Star Wars content available to us, but no one anticipated the unprecedented success and impact of Star Wars, and we were starved for that content in the early years. We got some of that fix through the Marvel Comics series, but the three year wait for the next movie seemed like an eternity. So the announcement of a live action television program that continued the story and included all the main actors was something to look forward to. I was glued to the television for every second of the broadcast, and even some of the commercials were entertaining, such as the Kenner commercial with C-3PO and R2-D2….
Diana Lee Inosanto’s Morgan Elsbeth was introduced to STAR WARS fans facing off against Ahsoka Tano during season two of THE MANDALORIAN, with her story continuing in AHSOKA. In this awesome episode of RFR, Diana Lee joins us “In The Cantina” to talk about her incredible journey from martial artist to STAR WARS superstar. Plus, we spend a little bit of time discussing her “Uncle Bruce”, the legendary Bruce Lee. This edition of “In The Cantina” with Diana Lee is an instant classic!
