As Star Wars was being developed back in the mid-70s, the maverick special effects crew at ILM were pioneering new filmmaking technologies in often unconventional ways. In the early days, machinist Stuart Ziff found himself thrust into the action on day one. In the years that followed, Stuart used his skills in a variety of ways at ILM including working on Return of the Jedi creature costumes like Admiral Ackbar, Nein Nunb and Ree Yees, and on many projects from Dragonslayer to Ghostbusters to Jurassic Park. This week on RFR, Stuart joins us In The Cantina to share fascinating stories about working on the Star Wars Original Trilogy and beyond. Plus, our review of Star Wars Visions season 3 and Jimmy Mac had the opportunity to see a Star Wars Holiday Special legend perform live in Chicago. Listen to find out who it was!

Created by Dave Filoni, the series of shorts devotes three episodes each to established characters revealing key moments not previously explored on screen. In Tales of the Empire, journey into the fearsome Galactic Empire through the eyes of two warriors on divergent paths — Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth and former Jedi Barriss Offee. We’ll learn how a young Morgan survives the annihilation of her clan and navigates the expanding Imperial galaxy on a path of vengeance in alliance with Thrawn. Meanwhile, former Jedi Padawan Offee gets a second chance as a member of the Inquisitorius serving the Sith Lord Darth Vader. The choices they make will define their destinies….

For writer Cavan Scott, there’s no mystery as to why Halloween and Star Wars go so well together.

“Ask anyone who has gone trick or treating as Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker!” he tells StarWars.com. “Star Wars has been scary from the start. I mean, there’s a werewolf in the cantina. And that’s before you get to wampas, witches, and brain worms!”

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition is an action-adventure virtual reality experience that follows the story of a droid repair technician who gets swept up into a grand adventure after crash landing on the planet Batuu. Tales of the Jedi | Records An Increase in Viewer Demand

The release of the new season of The Bad Batch might have inspired people to revisit, or watch for the first time, last fall’s anthology series Tales of the Jedi.

This is according to data from Parrot Analytics published by The Wrap; the story says that in the week of Jan. 7-13 the company recorded an uptick of 5% in online demand for the series with respect to the previous week. This does not necessarily mean that the viewership numbers increased over this period of time, considering that Parrot Analytics gathers data from social media interactions about the series, articles published online about it, and even piracy. However, there is undoubtedly a correlation between online demand and viewership numbers…

Now streaming on Disney+, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is a six-part anthology of animated shorts, diving into never-before-seen, pivotal moments for both Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. Both of these fan-favorite characters left the Jedi Order on their own accord, but both of their stories take vastly different turns.

Three of these episodes focus on Ahsoka, detailing her birth and first experiences with the Force, her training at the Jedi Temple, and her eventual reclamation as a Rebellion hero.
