In this deep dive into Star Wars lore, we explore the most cruel and disturbing things Darth Sidious ever did to Darth Vader, examining their master apprentice relationship across both canon and Legends continuity. From brutal psychological manipulation and humiliating punishments to calculated physical torment and the creation of Vader’s agonizing life support armor, this analysis reveals how Palpatine systematically broke, tested, and reshaped Anakin Skywalker into the Sith enforcer he desired. By tracing key moments from comics, novels, and expanded universe stories, this video exposes how Sidious used fear, pain, and control to dominate Vader while constantly threatening replacement, betrayal, and loss, making their bond one of the darkest and most tragic relationships in Star Wars history.
In the opening minutes of 1977’s Star Wars, the stakes are made immediately clear, and one of the most iconic villains in film history was born as Darth Vader steps onto the screen. Played on screen by David Prowse and voiced by James Earl Jones, Vader would transcend the movie itself, not only becoming an iconic character aesthetically (he’s still a popular Halloween costume) but defining the potential for the popularity of antagonists in movies for the rest of time. Even three years later, with The Empire Strikes Back, Vader solidified his place as one of the best of all time after delivering one of the most unexpected movie lines ever.
Three years after Empire, though, Return of the Jedi would start to unravel the mystique of Darth Vader, not only unmasking the character for the first time but giving fans a taste of who he really was before he became the villain fans knew. Time has continued to tell more and more tales of Darth Vader, filling out the margins of the character’s persona and history, but also creating plot holes and inconsistencies. Darth Vader is still one of the greatest villains in fiction, but he’s also been made pretty confusing over the years…

The premiere of Andor Season 2 on Disney+ is a month away, and that means it’s time to rewatch Season 1. Creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy recently got in on the fun during a live stream with host Ash Crossan, and they brought some members of the Andor cast along with them.
There was plenty to explore about the critically-acclaimed first season, with a few hints about what’s to come. Here are six new insights from the discussion….
1. Tony Gilroy’s favorite scene from Season 1 might surprise you.
It’s a quiet moment on Morlana One at Corporate Security headquarters, but the meeting between Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) and Chief Hyne (Rupert Vansittart) is Tony Gilroy’s favorite scene from Season 1. His reasons are those of a storyteller eagerly watching an audience respond to his work on the screen….

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series premiere, revisit the resilient rebels with some behind-the-scenes trivia.
By Kelly Knox
Star Wars fans met Kanan Jarrus (Spectre-1), Hera Syndulla (Spectre-2), Chopper (Spectre-3), Zeb Orrelios (Spectre-4), Sabine Wren (Spectre-5), and Ezra Bridger (Spectre-6) when Star Wars Rebels made its explosive debut with “Spark of Rebellion” on October 3, 2014. Co-created by Dave Filoni, Carrie Beck, and Simon Kinberg, audiences joined the Ghost crew in their adventures during the early days of the Rebellion. Whether you laughed and cried week to week as each episode aired for the next four years, or you experienced their journey all at once on Disney+, there’s still a few things you probably don’t know about your favorite found family.
For example, you probably know that Zeb was based on an early sketch of Chewbacca by Ralph McQuarrie.
You might even know that the brave and beleaguered Imperial inventory droid AP-5 is named after Lucasfilm Animation’s Athena Portillo.
But did you know the World Between Worlds was inspired by C.S. Lewis’s “Wood Between Worlds” from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew? Or that Commander Jun Sato’s name is an homage to director Jun Fukuda and composer Masaru Sato of the 1974 film Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla?…
The incredible abilities, secrets, and facts about the Force you (probably) never knew.
