NEWS, THEORIES, SPECULATION and REVIEWS!
At its conception in 1977, Star Wars was effectively a blend of mythology, history, and George Lucas’s favorite movies– a combination that would more or less persist through the rest of Lucas’s saga. But by the time of Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, and pre-production on the first Star Wars spin-off film began, a new team of Star Wars creatives– led by director Gareth Edwards and writer Gary Whitta– would shake the storytelling foundations of the series in unprecedented fashion. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would not only tell the story of the Rebel spies who stole the secret plans to the Death Star, but boldly ask the question: what if you removed the myth from Star Wars?

A prequel to a prequel, the Disney+ series provides immeasurable depth to a fan-favorite Star Wars movie, the character of Cassian Andor, and the birth of the Rebel Alliance.
By Lucas Seastrom
As with other Star Wars prequel stories, Andor reminds us that the most fascinating element of any tale is not the “what” but the “how.” Going into Andor’s first season, audiences knew its namesake, Cassian Andor, would meet his ultimate fate in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: a heroic self-sacrifice alongside Jyn Erso at the Battle of Scarif. But knowing how Cassian’s story ends only fuels the desire to understand the journey to get there.
As a nuanced character study, Andor helps shape our understanding of Rogue One’s story, and in particular, of course, that of Cassian. Let’s explore seven ways that the latest Disney+ Star Wars series empowers our viewing of the feature film that is fast becoming a classic.
1. Friends come in all forms.
In the midst of the tragedy of the Ghorman Massacre, Cassian manages to steal a KX-series security droid, which is then reprogrammed back at the Yavin base. K-2SO’s first line is an innocent “Hello,” a touching bookend to his final “Goodbye” before his sacrifice in Rogue One….
The star and executive producer of the critically-acclaimed Disney+ series has been changed for good thanks to Cassian Andor.

Star Wars changed everything for Diego Luna.
“It’s probably one of the biggest surprises in my life, what saying yes to Rogue One brought to me,” Luna tells StarWars.com. “I had no expectations. And every time I talk about the character or the project, I still feel I’m talking about something that is very personal.”
Now reflecting on the journey that encapsulates roughly a decade of his life, the star of Andor, with all episodes now streaming on Disney+, looks back on the end of the acclaimed series, the most important missions for Cassian Andor, and how Andor led viewers and the Rebellion back to the film that started it all….
Star Wars is full of different fighting factions, groups and organizations. Today I’m explaining all of the most important governments and major factions that have started galactic scale conflicts throughout the history of the galaxy far, far away.

At the start of Andor’s third story arc, most of the main characters are approaching precarious turning points. The Empire is cracking down on citizens throughout the galaxy for the smallest infractions as their Imperial Security Bureau is determined to close in on the rebels responsible for the heist at Aldhani. In the “Narkina 5,” “Nobody’s Listening!,” and “One Way Out,” all directed by Toby Haynes, the production design and dialogue from writers Beau Willimon and Tony Gilroy take center stage as many characters are literally or figuratively trapped by the Empire.
Narkina 5
Cassian, still using the pseudonym Keef Girgo, is shipped out to the Imperial prison Narkina 5. Notably, one of the first things the prisoners are required to do while in transit is remove their shoes. The prison is a sea of white hallways, bunks, and work rooms where inmates are required to quickly work together to build pieces of equipment for the Empire. Order is maintained by electric floors that send shocks through barefoot prisoner’s bodies if they break a rule or work too slowly. Andor soon settles into life in captivity, but always keeps an eye towards a possible escape….

Brad Rau and Jennifer Corbett on the death of Tech and the end of their award-winning series.

It’s not easy being the Bad Batch, but lately it’s been especially rough. Last year on Star Wars: The Bad Batch, our favorite clone squad lost its brother and science whiz Tech, was betrayed by a supposed ally, and saw young Omega snatched by Imperial mad scientist Dr. Royce Hemlock. To borrow a phrase from Obi-Wan Kenobi, they were dark times.
“When we first started this show, we had hoped that we could get three seasons to tell this story,” executive producer and head writer Jennifer Corbett tells StarWars.com. “We kicked Season 1 off with Order 66 and the team trying to figure out where they fit in the galaxy. We knew Season 2 was going to be a little bit darker, because we knew that the team was going to lose in some way. As the season progressed, it became clear that the way for them to lose is to essentially have the team be fractured. That’s what happens when we lose Tech, and then also with Omega being taken by the Empire.”…

Well here it is, the Star Wars video essay I’ve been working on all year!
It’s twenty years of stray observations about the films and especially the prequels which should be interesting to people, and a rebuttal to Red Letter Media and all those other terrible YouTube reviews, hopefully combined into an interesting essay.
Being me, it talks a lot about Bob Dylan and Kubrick and all those other guys I’m always on about, and I could have cut it down or cut it up into separate videos, but in the end I didn’t want to. It all ties together, and I think it’s interesting.
For all the people over the years who ask why I like the Star Wars prequels so much and I’ve said it’s a complicated subject that takes a long time to get into, well, it looks like 2 hours and 20 minutes is about how long it takes to get into, and here’s your answer!
