Why The Old Republic Sith Military was so ELITE

Explore the terrifying real power of Darth Vitiate’s Reconstituted Sith Empire as we break down the full strength of its military machine, from the brutally trained Imperial Troopers and specialized heavy infantry to the war droids, siege tanks, Harrower class dreadnoughts, Terminus destroyers, and devastating superweapons like the Ascendant Spear and Silencer. This video examines how Vitiate’s Empire built one of the most disciplined and dangerous fighting forces in Star Wars Legends, why its soldiers were far deadlier than the stormtroopers of later eras, and how its navy became powerful enough to challenge the Republic at near equal strength during the Great Galactic War

This is the story of how the Jedi were radicalized by a corrupt Republic, how the Pius Dea nearly poisoned the galaxy for over a thousand years, and how this forgotten crisis created a dangerous precedent that would echo all the way to Darth Sidious and the fall of the Order

How Would Anakin Do In the Old Republic?

What if Anakin Skywalker was pulled from the height of the Clone Wars and thrown into the brutal era of Star Wars: The Old Republic at the peak of the Great Galactic War? This deep dive explores how a fully realized Jedi Anakin would survive, adapt, and ultimately reshape a galaxy ruled by openly warring Sith empires, ancient Force traditions, and constant lightsaber combat, placing him alongside figures like Satele Shan, Havoc Squad, Darth Malgus, Revan, and the Sith Emperor himself. From battlefield duels and shifting galactic history to Anakin’s struggle with anger, attachment, and destiny in an era that rewards raw strength and conviction, this scenario reimagines how different Star Wars history could have been if the Chosen One had been forged in the crucible of the Old Republic rather than the fall of the Republic.

Never trust a pirate.

Soon we’ll have even more names to add to that list, like Gunter, Brutus, and SM-33 (played by Nick Frost). The High Republic Authors on Authors: Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong

The Star Wars: The High Republic co-authors of Escape from Valo talk about their longtime friendship and latest collaboration.

StarWars.com Team

Authors Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong have been friends and fans of each other’s work for nearly a decade. After meeting in 2015 at the launch party for Older’s first novel, Half-Resurrection Blues, they quickly formed a mutual appreciation that went beyond the page.

Their shared beliefs in creating chaotic and flawed characters, an affinity for imagining a wide spectrum of individuals whose identities reflect the full array of real Star Wars fans, and a shorthand that includes sharing pictures of birds during brainstorming makes them uniquely suited to co-write Escape from Valo, the newest middle grade book in Star Wars: The High Republic. With a cast of kids that bring the charm of The Goonies crew to the world of Valo, their story imbues a sense of hope and self-discovery to a younger audience during a period of anarchy in which the Nihil remain victorious.

In the latest installment in the StarWars.com series celebrating Phase III in Star Wars: The High Republic, which continues next week with Escape from Valo arriving January 30 and the monthly release of Older’s ongoing Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic series tomorrow, listen in as the two writers reflect on their collaboration, their fictional kids, and avian character vibes…

Star Wars: The Galactic Republic

Introduction

The Galactic Republic, once a symbol of power and unity, had become plagued with corruption and inefficiency. Queen Amidala of Naboo, a victim of the Trade Federation’s greed, experienced firsthand the Republic’s inability to take decisive action. Frustrated by the Senate’s inaction, Queen Amidala initiated a vote of no-confidence in Supreme Chancellor Valorum’s leadership, ultimately leading to the election of Senator Palpatine as the new Chancellor. Promising compassion and order, Palpatine’s tenure took an unexpected turn, plunging the galaxy into chaos and paving the way for the rise of the Galactic Empire.

The Separatist Movement and Emergency Powers

Under Chancellor Palpatine’s rule, the galaxy became increasingly divided. The Separatist movement emerged, posing a significant threat to the Republic. Palpatine, lacking the necessary legal means to combat this uprising, sought a solution. It was Jar Jar Binks, a Representative from Naboo, who proposed a radical motion in the Senate. He suggested granting the Chancellor emergency powers to address the ongoing strife. The motion was met with enthusiasm, and Palpatine vowed to relinquish these powers once the crisis had passed.

The Birth of the Clone Army and the Clone Wars

In response to the growing Separatist threat, Chancellor Palpatine created the Grand Army of the Republic. This army consisted of clone troopers, advanced weaponry, and formidable star cruisers. The Republic’s newfound military strength was put to the test in the Battle of Geonosis, where they clashed with the Separatists’ droid army. This marked the beginning of the Clone Wars, a conflict that would ravage the galaxy for three long years.

The Jedi’s Role in the Conflict

As the Clone Wars raged on, the Jedi, once revered peacekeepers, found themselves transformed into generals leading the clone troopers. However, their involvement was not universally supported or welcomed. The conflict seemed endless, and public sentiment began to turn against the Republic and the Jedi. On Coruscant, the capital of the Republic, protests erupted, with citizens claiming that the Republic had lost its way and the Jedi were no longer noble.

Palpatine’s Manipulations and the Jedi’s Suspicion

As the war dragged on, Chancellor Palpatine continued to amass emergency powers, overstaying his term in office. The Jedi grew increasingly wary of his actions, sensing that something was amiss. Their suspicions were not unfounded. Unknown to them, Palpatine was, in fact, a Sith Lord known as Darth Sidious. He had orchestrated the entire Clone War, manipulating events from the shadows. When the Jedi failed in their attempt to apprehend him, Palpatine seized the opportunity to consolidate his power.

The Fall of the Republic and the Birth of the Galactic Empire

In a calculated move, Chancellor Palpatine called a special session of Congress, claiming to be the victim of an assassination attempt. He branded all Jedi as enemies of the state and announced his intention to reorganize the Republic into the first Galactic Empire. The Senate, under his influence, erupted in applause, cementing the demise of liberty in the galaxy. Senator Amidala, in despair, lamented, “So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.”

The Legacy of the Galactic Republic

The fall of the Galactic Republic marked a turning point in galactic history. The corruption and inefficiencies that had plagued the Republic ultimately led to its downfall. The rise of the Galactic Empire brought about an era of oppression and fear. The Jedi, once revered as guardians of peace, were hunted down and nearly eradicated. The galaxy was forever changed, setting the stage for the events that would unfold in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Conclusion

The rise and fall of the Galactic Republic serves as a cautionary tale of the dangers of corruption and complacency. Despite its initial promise of unity and justice, the Republic succumbed to greed and political maneuvering. The emergence of Chancellor Palpatine as a Sith Lord revealed the depths of deception and manipulation. Ultimately, it was the failure of the Republic’s institutions and the erosion of trust that paved the way for the rise of the Galactic Empire. The legacy of the Republic serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need to safeguard democracy against those who seek to exploit it.

“So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.” – Senator Amidala
