The showrunner behind the Star Wars Original series, debuting June 4 on Disney+, talks about her film influences and love of Legends lore.

Like a red lightsaber zinging through a serene forest, the first teaser for The Acolyte has arrived.
“Vernestra Rwoh opening a door might be my favorite part of the trailer,” showrunner Leslye Headland tells StarWars.com. “It’s like ‘What’s up? Listen, I haven’t opened a door in 100 years,’” Headland says with a laugh.
The mystery-thriller, which debuts June 4 on Disney+, upends the typical Jedi hero tale for a story focused on the dark side disrupting a Jedi Order in its prime. And Headland can’t wait to show us more.
The creator of the newest Star Wars live-action series first discovered the galaxy far, far away as a teenager watching the Special Editions on the big screen and immersing herself in the expanded universe of books, like Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire. “I think it just meant so much to me because it was a place to live, a place to escape to,” Headland says. “Not just the media, but…George [Lucas] had given you enough signposts that it’s almost like Narnia. You could just go [into the Star Wars galaxy] and live there. And then you just have to come out of the wardrobe at some point and go to class.”…
I recently got the chance to join a roundtable interview with the creators of The Bad Batch! This one is with voice actor Dee Bradley Baker, who technically has 1.2 Million character credits to his name in the Star Wars universe. There are some slight spoilers in here, but I moved those questions to the end.

Kevin Feige is no longer headed to a galaxy far, far away. The Marvel Studios boss, who was developing a Star Wars feature to produce, is moving on to other things as he focuses on the dozens of films and TV shows on his plate in the MCU.
When asked if his Star Wars feature was happening, he told Entertainment Tonight simply: “No.” It was part of a larger interview at the Las Vegas premiere of The Marvels Tuesday…
With Respawn Entertainment’s hit action adventure title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order turning a year old, I recall the journey of the game, the thematic importance of the game’s mechanics and design, and the resounding message about failure, trauma, and the hero’s journey.

Wall-E director Andrew Stanton, who co-wrote the final two episodes of Disney+‘s Obi-Wan Kenobi, has had some challenges with the restrictions working on the Star Wars series regarding the canon storyline.
Lucasfilm and Disney’s series Obi-Wan Kenobi wrapped up its six-episode run some months ago. While it didn’t take the world by storm, it was still a very popular show in its own right.
Kenobi, of course, saw Ewan McGregor’s legendary Jedi Master take on Darth Vader in a high-stakes rematch. The entire season was driving toward the former friends’ fateful lightsaber clash on an unnamed planet.
Now, the Star Wars franchise’s sense of canon has always been somewhat free-flowing, but the live-action properties, at least, are seemingly made to follow a strict sense of continuity. And it seems that Andrew Stanton, who helped write Kenobi’s fifth and sixth chapters, took some issue with these limitations…
Just because one is strong with the Force, does it mean they should be trained as a Jedi? In Star Wars Insider #214, hitting newsstands and digital this week, writer Richard Dinnick tries to answer this question in his thought-provoking piece, “To Train or Not to Train?” Check out an exclusive excerpt of the feature below, in which Dinnick recounts perhaps the most famous case of a Jedi gone wrong…
A brand-new LEGO Star Wars animated special for Disney Plus has been released, titled LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation. After celebrating Life Day in 2020 and getting scared by some terrifying tales last year, our main characters are now trying to relax and have some fun aboard (cue in Disney’s shameless plug of their expensive hotel) the Halcyon starcruiser.
Finn, afraid to lose his friends before they move on to their next adventure, tries to maximize their time together but quickly realizes that they are not all on the same boat. Poe wants to engage in all the activities he can get his hands on, while Rey just wants to sit by the pool and sleep it off. The group quickly disperses, and Finn, while looking for them, is visited by three Force ghosts who try to teach him three valuable lessons. They are Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Leia, and they each tell a story of a vacation they had had back in the day….
