Today, Disney+ released an exciting special look and unveiled a brand-new poster and images for the highly anticipated second season of Lucasfilm’s Emmy®-nominated thriller “Andor,” which returns for its long-awaited conclusion on April 23. The special look offers a glimpse at the making of Season 2 of the compelling series, in which the characters and their relationships will intensify as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound.
Rife with political intrigue, danger, tension, and high stakes, the series is a prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction: The Death Star, setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film. “Andor” sets the clock back five years from the events of “Rogue One” to tell the story of the film’s hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation from disinterested, cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.
The final season will unfold over 12 episodes broken down into four chapters of three episodes each. The first chapter will premiere April 23, with subsequent chapters debuting each week.
“Andor” Season 2 stars Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Elizabeth Dulau, Alan Tudyk, with Ben Mendelsohn and Forest Whitaker. The series was created by Tony Gilroy, who also serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna, Luke Hull and John Gilroy. Tony Gilroy wrote the first three episodes, with Beau Willimon writing episodes 4-6, Dan Gilroy penning episodes 7-9 and Tom Bissell putting pen to paper for episodes 10-12. The directors for the series are Ariel Kleiman (Eps. 1-6), Janus Metz (Eps. 7-9) and Alonso Ruizpalacios (Eps. 10-12).

At the first D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Brasil today, the groundmech rolled onstage and spoke Portuguese during the Showcase Panel segment announcing that Andor: A Star Wars Story Season 2 will premiere April 22, 2025, with a new logo for the ongoing series.
While Season 1 followed a year in Cassian Andor’s life set about five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the forthcoming episodes will bridge the remaining gap. Covering four years told in three-episode arcs, Andor Season 2 follows Cassian as he evolves into a leader for the emerging Rebel Alliance. Cassian may have been a reluctant hero before, but the Andor we’ll meet next year is fueled by a higher purpose in the fight for freedom against the Empire….
A new cast member has been confirmed for the upcoming THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU feature film. Home video collectors in every galaxy have reason to celebrate, as Lucasfilm and Disney announced today that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor will come to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on April 30. Originally released in 2022 on Disney+, this will mark the first opportunity to own the Emmy Award-nominated shows on disc.
Both Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Complete Series and Andor: The Complete First Season 4K UHD and Blu-ray sets will feature premium SteelBook packaging and come packed with new bonus features as well as exclusive concept art cards. The concept art for Star Wars Andor matches up VERY well with the final version of the show…except for this one image showing Cassian flying a starfighter. What happened to that scene? Is it a hint for what’s to come in season two?

Andor has been nothing but a success story for Star Wars, with plenty of awards being bestowed upon the now critically acclaimed series.
The Rogue One prequel show aired in late 2022, but it quickly rose to fan-favorite status with many fans citing the care and commitment that went into the first season as a golden standard for the franchise.
A new report has also disclosed just how expensive Andor was for Disney to finance. It enjoyed a $250 million budget, but the quality of the show has proved time and time again that it was worthy, although admittedly eye-watering, investment for Lucasfilm…
Diego Luna, the man behind the leading character of Andor, teased that the upcoming second of the Star Wars series will be even better than the first.
While Season 1 might not have gotten the audience that series such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett did, its critical and fan reception blew both of those projects out of the water. Many have hailed Andor as being some of the best Star Wars content to date.
Production for Season 2 is already chugging along at full speed, and the talented individuals behind the scenes are hard at work on finishing the last half of the now-beloved project.

Diego Luna has been honored with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama, for Andor, it was announced today. Luna stars as the title character, rebel Cassian Andor, in the Disney+ series, reprising his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story role. He also serves as executive producer.
“This character represents a lot. It’s important that we see ourselves on the screen, that we feel represented, that the stories we tell reflect the world that’s out there,” Luna told StarWars.com earlier this year. “This role has been one of the most special journeys as an actor.”
Andor, a spy thriller set five years before the events of Rogue One, follows Luna’s Cassian as he becomes involved in the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire. The music for the final four episodes of Andor has finally come out. The 56-minute-long tracklist is now available on Spotify as well as other digital platforms, and can also be purchased physically from Walt Disney Records.
The release comes a few days after composer Nicholas Britell posted on social media he had finished putting the final touches to the score. The music was obviously heard during the episodes when they aired on Disney Plus, so Britell was probably referring to some additional mixing or small corrections they had to add for the digital release of the tracks. Albums for the previous eight episodes are also available, named Volume 1 and Volume 2.
