It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for all things creepy!
While it’s true that Star Wars features moments of heroism, leadership, bravery, and swashbuckling fun, it’s also a great place to go for a good scare.
Since fear is the path to the dark side and it’s Halloween, let’s put the spotlight on those frightening Sith moments that make you wish you kept the light on in the first place!…
After spending several scary seasons inside the chilling halls of Darth Vader’s castle, this year’s galactic take on the Halloween season has found a new haunt: Jabba the Hutt’s Palace.
More specifically, dangling over the trap door that leads to the rancor pit.
Writer Cavan Scott could think of no better setting to incorporate the fear factor of his previous titles and his affinity for the creatures and aliens of the original trilogy. Styled after the 1960s-era portmanteaus from Amicus Productions and other horror movie houses, the first Star Wars Halloween one-shot from Dark Horse departs from Mustafar for the second scariest place in the galaxy: the Dune Sea of Tatooine…

Drawing Chewbacca and His Family
Ever wanted to draw Star Wars characters and vehicles just like the professional comic book artists? In this step-by-step series, Star Wars artists and illustrators show you how to draw some of the most beloved characters in the saga.
Star Wars illustrator Cynthia Cummens-Narcisi explains with these easy-to-follow steps how to draw Chewbacca, his wife Malla and his son Lumpy from “The Star Wars Holiday Special.” Steps 1-3 are to be drawn lightly with a pencil. Finished lines and details will come at the end.
Step One:
This may look like an advanced tutorial, but even the beginning artist can get something out of it. With any drawing you make, begin by lightly sketching in your figures. You might decide ahead of time what you want your composition to look like by drawing thumbnails in your sketchbook.
Step Two:
Begin to fill in your sketch with larger shapes. Don’t get too involved in drawing detail yet. Just make sure as you begin your sketch that the composition is balanced. Sketch with a light hand, and don’t press too hard. If you’d like to use the same supplies professional artists use, try drawing with a HB pencil for your rough sketch. H pencils can be difficult to erase so don’t use anything harder than an HB.
Step Three:
You’ve probably been anxious to add detail. I drew an apron on Malla to break up the colors a bit. I also placed that X-wing Fighter into the composition to add a nice splash of color. Is Lumpy enjoying Wookiee cookies in your sketch? Maybe you can draw some other unusual food he might have stolen off the table.
Step Four:
Now that you polished your sketch, you can start the fun part, the part everyone loves — coloring! You can use anything you want to color it like crayons, colored pencils, watercolors or maybe scan your image and color it in Adobe Photoshop. I used my beloved Copic Markers and colored pencils. There’s lots of layering of color involved, and blending (which I love to do), so be patient if you try this. Notice how loosely I placed that first layer of color.
Step Five:
Here’s the drawing after many layers of color have been applied. I even started adding more detail just with colored pencil.
Step Six:
Add more contrast by making some areas darker. Then I then grabbed some Deleter White which is similar to White Out in that it’s used primarily by comic book artists to make corrections. It can be watered down and applied in thin washes over a painting or applied opaquely. There’s lots of uses and a lot of artists use it, but you can also use a white colored pencil or a gel pen, or white acrylic paint and a very fine brush to add some nice white highlights.
One thing you might be tempted to do is to draw every strand of Wookiee fur. Resist the temptation to do that! Focus on just suggesting the fur by drawing fewer lines than you think you’ll need. Be as creative as you want to be with your sketch. That’s the magic of the Star Wars universe — once you’re in it, there are no limitations to your artistry.
For the time being, the next Star Wars film is scheduled for a December 2025 theatrical release. The previously slated move, Rogue Squadron, won’t be meeting its 2023 window and has instead been shelved. Given the current trend at Lucasfilm, the odds of a movie being ready in three years’ time almost seems like an impossibility.
It’s been abundantly clear for years that internal turmoil has stalled the film development process for the company since the completion of the sequel trilogy. This was confirmed last week when Lucasfilm SVP Michelle Rejwan was demoted. The producer was tasked with overseeing Rogue Squadron’s development – in addition to other new films – and was relieved of her duties following too many creative difficulties.
Now three years removed from the last silver-screen experience, Star Wars fans are itching to get back into theaters for a journey into the galaxy far, far away. That time is still a few years away, at best, and it’s not one that Lucasfilm is particularly looking forward to. With so much riding on the next theatrical title, Lucasfilm executives are actually worried about the franchise’s next steps…

Star Wars will soon bring the High Republic to live-action as Disney+’s The Acolyte series finally has some exciting news after months of disappointing delays.
Most of Star Wars’ Disney+ endeavors so far have explored familiar faces in the timeline of the famous Skywalker Saga, but that’s all about to change. After seeing a major push on the publishing side, the High Republic will soon be coming to live-action with The Acolyte, a mystery-thriller exploring the emergence of the Sith.
The secretive project – which will star Amandla Stenberg as “Aura,” which may be a codename – has suffered constant delays since its December 2020 reveal. The first timetable that emerged last summer pointed toward The Acolyte getting in front of the cameras this February, but that never came to be.
Further delays went on to push the Lucasfilm production to Summer 2022 and then eventually October 2022 as casting continued. Now, as October comes to a close, more news has surfaced on the series, and things are finally beginning to look up for the first live-action dive into the High Republic….

A Lotta Leias at Comic-Con 2009
Words/Photos: Bonnie Burton
One of the best parts of being at San Diego Comic-Con is seeing all the costumes — whether it’s a ’70s disco Boba Fett or Star Trek ladies with ’60s bouffants, there’s always something worthy of a Twitpic.
This year, as every year, the Slave Leia Photo Op took center stage. When they weren’t making fanboys drool over at the Gentle Giant booth, they could be spotted gathering together in the Star Wars Pavilion. Luckily for you, starwars.com was there making sure this get-together wouldn’t be missed.
And guess what, they’re STILL online over at:

Drawing Asajj Ventress from The Clone Wars
Ever wanted to draw Star Wars characters and vehicles just like the professional comic book artists? In this step-by-step series, Star Wars artists and illustrators show you how to draw some of the most beloved characters in the saga.
Star Wars illustrator Cynthia Cummens explains with these easy-to-follow steps on how to draw Asajj Ventress from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Steps 1-4 are to be drawn lightly with a pencil. No pen, no dark lines. Finished lines and details will come at the end.
Step One:
Start with drawing a few lines to capture the pose of the figure. Draw with a light hand, not too much pressure. Keep your lines loose and energetic.
Step Two:
Using simple shapes, and following the lines you drew in Step 1, draw her arms and body. Don’t be afraid to draw through overlapping shapes. You’ll erase some of those lines later.
Step Three:
Start defining and shaping the body contours and add her facial features.
Step Four:
Lightly sketch in some details of her clothes and face.
Step Five:
Grab your colored pens and start inking! If you want to get fancier, try using Copic markers or Microns. Afterwards, erase the pencils lines you no longer need.
Step Six:
Color Asajj with colored pens, or professional Copic Markers. You can also scan your inked image and color it in Photoshop, or use watercolors if you like. Have you tried colored pencil? Add some white highlights with white colored pencil, gouache or white acrylic. Deleter White, often used by comic book artists, is also very effective for highlights. Experiment with art supplies until you get the results you like best.
Step Seven:
Here’s the final art with lightsabers! Remember to draw daily. And when possible draw from life — either at the zoo, in the park, at school, anywhere. Remember, it takes lots of practice to become a skilled artist. Stick with it and you’ll yourself transform over time into an amazing artist. Good luck!
Ashley Eckstein, the original voice actress for Ahsoka Tano, has revealed that she got an opportunity to visit the set of the live-action Disney Plus Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson.
Talking to Looper (hat tip r/StarWarsLeaks), Ashley Eckstein managed to reveal that she got to visit the set of the live-action Disney Plus series. While there’s little that she could talk about without breaking the standard non-disclosure agreements that come with a set visit on a major franchise, she did note that she got to meet Rosario Dawson on the set of the series for the first time….
The Mandalorian jump-started the Star Wars franchise when it was dying, thanks to the reception of The Rise of Skywalker. It’s now become the flagship project in the franchise and has been responsible for several spin-offs set in the same timeframe.
But what fans haven’t seen is any major crossovers between the individual series. The closest audiences have come was the involvement of Boba Fett and Ahsoka, but that was before they both had their own shows—so it doesn’t fully count.
So, when might two series collide in a bigger way?
One possibility could be with the Jude Law-starring Star Wars show Skeleton Crew. Before the project was officially announced, many people thought it was going to be a High Republic-based show—along the same lines as The Acolyte. Instead, this new project has been rumored to be in a similar vein as Stranger Things.
More importantly, the show is also set in the same timeframe as The Mandalorian. Could fans expect a crossover between these two shows sooner rather than later?
According to Jon Favreau, that’s a very real possibility…..
Ahsoka has been a bit of a bridge character for Lucasfilm in recent years. The once-young Jedi made the jump to live-action in The Mandalorian, directly connecting The Clone Wars with this new era of Disney+ streaming. Now, though the character will get a series of her own in the upcoming Ahsoka.
The Rosario Dawson-led streaming project will serve as a sequel series to Rebels, bringing that series’ set of characters into live action for the very first time. The show is supposedly coming soon with a first look having been shown off at the D23 Fan Expo in September.
But with Dawson taking on the role of Ahsoka in live-action, some are asking whether Jedi’s original voice actor Ashley Eckstein will be a part of the series in any way….
The Nameless are mysterious creatures that hail from an even more mysterious world

While the ratings may not be there like they were for The Mandalorian, it’s undeniable that Andor is getting rave reviews across the board. The initial batch of reactions from critics was very positive, and now, with 478 reviews and a 92% critic rating, the first season of the series has been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans have also given their stamp of approval on the website, with 2588 user ratings as of the posting of this article and an overall 83% score. It is not rare for more quiet and reserved series or movies, even when they are overall praised from critics and fans, to have a slightly higher critic rating than an audience one. More explosive movies like Black Adam have much higher audience than critic ratings….
Tales of the Jedi is out! It’s short, but there are still some fun connections to be made between it and other Star Wars stories, so here is everything I found!

More news on the Damon Lindelof-written Star Wars movie has come into focus from Jeff Sneider, who was the first to report that Lindelof was developing a Star Wars movie.
About 19 minutes into his podcast The Hot Mic, the conversation towards Star Wars and specifically the recent news about Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy being hired to direct the movie scripted by Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson. While Star Wars movies as of late have entered periods of development hell while Lucasfilm paves a cinematic future not solely dependent on the Skywalker Family, Sneider explained that he was confident this film will be the next one in theaters…
This past week, Star Wars fans were treated to not just another episode of Andor on Disney+, but a whole new animated anthology series titled Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.
A spin-off of Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, Tales of the Jedi is a six-episode event with a special focus on Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku.
While Star Wars fans have seen how The Clone Wars ends, one particular Tales of the Jedi episode revisited a key moment from Anakin’s training of Ahsoka. And in an ironic twist, it featured a grim reminder of another Jedi’s death…
