Star Wars And Sackcloth & Ashes Collaboration

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

The mission behind the new star wars and sackcloth & ashes collaboration – reveal

Unveiled today as part of bring home the galaxy, the trio of new blankets is environmentally friendly and helps keep homeless shelters stocked with a basic necessity.
Star wars stories tend to be about hope and perseverance despite overwhelming odds, a theme shared with the mission-driven sackcloth & ashes, which launches its first star wars collaboration today.

In 2014, ceo bob dalton founded the company during a dark time in his life, when his own mother experienced homelessness. “prior to my mom being on the streets, I was pretty judgmental toward people on the street corners holding signs and asking for money,” dalton admits. “it was hard for me to wrap my mind around the idea that some of these people weren’t capable of going to get a job. The irony in all of it was that my mom is the hardest working person I know, so it deconstructed my bias. She ended up on the streets due to impulsive decision making and addiction.”…

Spring the Trap

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

After spending several scary seasons inside the chilling halls of Darth Vader’s castle, this year’s galactic take on the Halloween season has found a new haunt: Jabba the Hutt’s Palace.

More specifically, dangling over the trap door that leads to the rancor pit.

Writer Cavan Scott could think of no better setting to incorporate the fear factor of his previous titles and his affinity for the creatures and aliens of the original trilogy. Styled after the 1960s-era portmanteaus from Amicus Productions and other horror movie houses, the first Star Wars Halloween one-shot from Dark Horse departs from Mustafar for the second scariest place in the galaxy: the Dune Sea of Tatooine…

Lucasfilm Worried About Next Movie?

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

For the time being, the next Star Wars film is scheduled for a December 2025 theatrical release. The previously slated move, Rogue Squadron, won’t be meeting its 2023 window and has instead been shelved. Given the current trend at Lucasfilm, the odds of a movie being ready in three years’ time almost seems like an impossibility.

It’s been abundantly clear for years that internal turmoil has stalled the film development process for the company since the completion of the sequel trilogy. This was confirmed last week when Lucasfilm SVP Michelle Rejwan was demoted. The producer was tasked with overseeing Rogue Squadron’s development – in addition to other new films – and was relieved of her duties following too many creative difficulties.

Now three years removed from the last silver-screen experience, Star Wars fans are itching to get back into theaters for a journey into the galaxy far, far away. That time is still a few years away, at best, and it’s not one that Lucasfilm is particularly looking forward to. With so much riding on the next theatrical title, Lucasfilm executives are actually worried about the franchise’s next steps…

The Acolyte Gets Filming Update

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

Star Wars will soon bring the High Republic to live-action as Disney+’s The Acolyte series finally has some exciting news after months of disappointing delays.

Most of Star Wars’ Disney+ endeavors so far have explored familiar faces in the timeline of the famous Skywalker Saga, but that’s all about to change. After seeing a major push on the publishing side, the High Republic will soon be coming to live-action with The Acolyte, a mystery-thriller exploring the emergence of the Sith.

The secretive project – which will star Amandla Stenberg as “Aura,” which may be a codename – has suffered constant delays since its December 2020 reveal. The first timetable that emerged last summer pointed toward The Acolyte getting in front of the cameras this February, but that never came to be.

Further delays went on to push the Lucasfilm production to Summer 2022 and then eventually October 2022 as casting continued. Now, as October comes to a close, more news has surfaced on the series, and things are finally beginning to look up for the first live-action dive into the High Republic….

Ashley Eckstein Visited the Ahsoka Set

Ashley Eckstein, the original voice actress for Ahsoka Tano, has revealed that she got an opportunity to visit the set of the live-action Disney Plus Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson.

Talking to Looper (hat tip r/StarWarsLeaks), Ashley Eckstein managed to reveal that she got to visit the set of the live-action Disney Plus series. While there’s little that she could talk about without breaking the standard non-disclosure agreements that come with a set visit on a major franchise, she did note that she got to meet Rosario Dawson on the set of the series for the first time….

Mandalorian Major Crossover Hint

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

The Mandalorian jump-started the Star Wars franchise when it was dying, thanks to the reception of The Rise of Skywalker. It’s now become the flagship project in the franchise and has been responsible for several spin-offs set in the same timeframe.

But what fans haven’t seen is any major crossovers between the individual series. The closest audiences have come was the involvement of Boba Fett and Ahsoka, but that was before they both had their own shows—so it doesn’t fully count.

So, when might two series collide in a bigger way?

One possibility could be with the Jude Law-starring Star Wars show Skeleton Crew. Before the project was officially announced, many people thought it was going to be a High Republic-based show—along the same lines as The Acolyte. Instead, this new project has been rumored to be in a similar vein as Stranger Things.

More importantly, the show is also set in the same timeframe as The Mandalorian. Could fans expect a crossover between these two shows sooner rather than later?

According to Jon Favreau, that’s a very real possibility…..

Ashley Eckstein Shuts Down Rumors

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

Ahsoka has been a bit of a bridge character for Lucasfilm in recent years. The once-young Jedi made the jump to live-action in The Mandalorian, directly connecting The Clone Wars with this new era of Disney+ streaming. Now, though the character will get a series of her own in the upcoming Ahsoka.

The Rosario Dawson-led streaming project will serve as a sequel series to Rebels, bringing that series’ set of characters into live action for the very first time. The show is supposedly coming soon with a first look having been shown off at the D23 Fan Expo in September.

But with Dawson taking on the role of Ahsoka in live-action, some are asking whether Jedi’s original voice actor Ashley Eckstein will be a part of the series in any way….

Andor Now Certified Fresh

Fans have also given their stamp of approval on the website, with 2588 user ratings as of the posting of this article and an overall 83% score. It is not rare for more quiet and reserved series or movies, even when they are overall praised from critics and fans, to have a slightly higher critic rating than an audience one. More explosive movies like Black Adam have much higher audience than critic ratings….

Daughter Of Ferrix

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

The actor and star Diego Luna tell StarWars.com about the connection between their characters and why Maarva has such a profound impact on Cassian’s journey.
Kristin Baver

Of all the people Cassian Andor has met in Andor, the new Star Wars live-action series now streaming on Disney+,  there’s one person Diego Luna believes has the greatest impact on his character’s journey: his mother, Maarva, played by Fiona Shaw.

The Irish-born actor has played Harry Potter’s dour aunt in the Harry Potter films and a stone-cold MI6 agent in Killing Eve, but her turn as Cassian’s adopted mother is strikingly different. A warm yet unflinching presence in young Cassian’s life, and a buoy in the storm of his chaotic adulthood, by the time we meet her in her later years, her patience with the Empire has just about worn out.

“I can tell you everything I know about Maarva, but I’m not sure I should,” Fiona Shaw tells StarWars.com. “It’s very interesting to play an older character because you play somebody who has sort of boiled down their values to just what they think matters.” There’s a sharp clarity to Maarva Andor, who embodies a multitude of identities: mother, widow, and leader, among others. “Maarva is beginning to view the world [differently], including the oppression that she’s absorbed, because the Empire does keep them all down and they’re not proud of that. People get ashamed of being kept down and Maarva’s husband has been killed by the very same Empire and hanged in the town square. So she’s had to swallow a lot of pride over the years. And we meet her at a point where maybe that’s becoming really untenable.”…

Did Cad Bane Really Die?

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

In “Chapter 6” of this year’s The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars fans celebrated yet another live-action debut for a beloved animated character with Corey Burton’s Cad Bane shooting his way into the action.

Unfortunately, the series’ first season ended with Cad Bane meeting his untimely end at the hands of Boba Fett, to the surprise of many who were hoping for him to have an extended run on Disney+. But as has been the case for years in the world of pop culture movies, particularly in the galaxy far, far away, nobody is truly dead in these kinds of stories.

The first signs pointing to Cad Bane’s return have already been laid out, although it’s still unclear where or when he could jump back into the story with what Lucasfilm and Disney have planned in the near future. Additionally, the actor behind the blue-skinned alien cowboy recently teased the idea of coming back, looking back at the history of great movie and TV villains in the process….

Disney+’s Ahsoka Show Reveals Its Intriguing Genre

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

When Ahsoka Tano first debuted in The Mandalorian‘s second season, most fans were not only excited but also relieved—it was about time one of  Star Wars’ best characters finally got her due in live-action. Lucasfilm seemed to agree, as it didn’t take long for Rosario Dawson’s former Jedi to get her own streaming series.

It’s not clear what Ahsoka will be about specifically, but it does look to be following the plot threads left hanging by the animated fan-favorite series Star Wars: Rebels. This means that fans can expect to see familiar faces, including Ezra Bridger, who was missing the last fans heard of him.

But how might Ahsoka feel compared to all of the other Star Wars projects out there? Will it be the galaxy-spanning adventure of The Mandalorian? Or maybe something closer to The Book of Boba Fett?

Well, now, thanks to the franchise’s key creatives, fans might have a better idea of what to expect from Ahsoka Tano’s solo project….

Star Wars Inside Intel: The Ascendant

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

In the spirit of Halloween season, StarWars.com examines this creepy cult that looked to replicate the Force through technological terrors!
Emily Shkoukani

Star Wars Inside Intel is a StarWars.com feature where Lucasfilm’s Emily Shkoukani, whose job is to know as much about a galaxy far, far away as possible, explores obscure facts about Star Wars lore and continuity. In this creepy installment for Halloween season, Emily takes a look at a mysterious cult of Force worshippers…

First mentioned in Marvel’s Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #15 in the story “War of the Bounty Hunters: Party Favors,” the Ascendant was a Force cult existing long before the Skywalker Saga, sometime during the Sith’s reign. Known for their wicked technology, the Ascendant were eventually eliminated by Sith and Jedi alike, who feared the devices conjured by the cult.

Tech Cult

There are two things that define the Ascendant: technology and the occult. The Ascendant were not Force users but Force fanatics, obsessed with replicating the effects of the dark side in similar ways to how the Sith used it, and beyond. To do this, the Ascendant used clever tricks, technology, dark sciences, and rituals to achieve this mimicry of the Force.

One such technology was the thought dowser, a device capable of amplifying the wielder’s thoughts in order to persuade another being to do whatever they wanted. Using a special material to amplify the user’s thoughts, the thought dowser was effective and, although the Sith were generally wary of the Ascendant, they were known to use this type of technology to aid their apprentices in honing their innate abilities….

‘Andor’ Episode 8 Review: ‘Narkina 5’

Toby Haynes returns to direct the latest episode of Andor, scripted by Beau Willimon, where the Empire continues to exercise its full power over the galaxy. It is the beginning of yet another three-episode arc after the deviation from that structure that episode 7 gave us last week, and once again, it feels as mostly set-up for what’s to come.

The seventh episode followed the traditional three-act structure, with a beginning, middle, and end, while Narkina 5 is very much the beginning. And yet, the overall cohesiveness of the episode was beautifully achieved, with Willimon still managing to include some set-ups that were later paid off in most of the subplots in the episode, and through masterful editing happening all around. And those cameos too!…

Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi Is Here!

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

The animated anthology of shorts is now streaming, only on Disney+.
StarWars.com Team

Two paths and two choices.

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, a new six-part animated anthology of shorts, has arrived on Disney+. Helmed by supervising director Dave Filoni, the series devotes three episodes each to fan favorites Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, revealing key moments in their lives and journeys.

The stories range from the birth of Ahsoka and an early experience with her mother, Pav-ti (played by Janina Gavankar, who brough Iden Versio to life in Star Wars Battlefront II), to a mission featuring Dooku — still a Jedi — and his Padawan, Qui-Gon Jinn (voiced by Liam Neeson himself).

At Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, Filoni described Tales of the Jedi as “Two paths and two choices” — a juxtaposition of Ahsoka and Dooku’s decisions and experiences. A longtime Star Wars storyteller, Filoni likened these episodes as “tone poems,” and acknowledged the continuing influence of George Lucas. “It’s the mentor relationship…now it’s our job to take care of it and to further it in ways that are exciting for the next generation.”…

Who Is The Scariest Servant Of The Dark Side?

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

Who do you fear most, Darth Vader or Darth Maul?
Dan Brooks and Jennifer Landa

One of the great things about Star Wars is that it inspires endless debates and opinions on a wide array of topics. Best bounty hunter? Most powerful Jedi? Does Salacious Crumb have the best haircut in the saga? In that spirit, StarWars.com presents From a Certain Point of View: a series of point-counterpoints on some of the biggest — and most fun — Star Wars issues. In this installment, two StarWars.com writers celebrate the Halloween season by pledging themselves to the most terrifying dark side apprentice.

There’s no contest. It’s Maul, says Dan.

I’d argue that when it comes to agility, no other Sith can touch him. Maul’s gifts for combat are astonishing; he’s impossibly fast and skilled with a lightsaber, as evidenced by his duel with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. And even with mechanical legs, he bested the warrior Pre Viszla, proving that Mandalorian weaponry was no match for his skill. This doesn’t mean Maul can’t be defeated, of course. Just that you’re in for the fight of your life against him.

Maul is frightening, but no one can beat Darth Vader, says Jenn.

Darth Vader. He’s one of a kind, which is a good thing. His billowing black cape and glowing red lightsaber strike fear in those who cross his path. Even the most ruthless Imperial officers shiver at the sound of his mechanical breathing. His Sith rap sheet is longer than a Super Star Destroyer, but I have four specific reasons why Darth Vader is the scariest dark side servant of them all….

Andor Just Recycled A Last Jedi Scene

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

Andor has captured the attention of Star Wars fans across the world. The latest Disney+ series may not have the same gigantic audience as the likes of Obi-Wan or The Mandalorian, but it’s being hailed critically as the best of the bunch.

It certainly came as a surprise to many, seeing as how the show stars a character who wasn’t even the lead of his debut movie. Yet, he’s now managing to lead some of the best storytelling in the franchise.
