Fifteen years after her debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano became the star of her own acclaimed series this year. But first, we returned to Mandalore for Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Happy Sunday, and welcome back to my weekly rant called “This Week, In a Galaxy Far, Far Away“. There was no shortage of things to talk about last week, but today, it’s going to be a slightly slower edition. As always, thanks for stopping by, and share the joy with your loved ones if you enjoy it! Today, we’ll discuss Star Wars sequel trilogy plans and how Netflix’s big viewership data dump could affect the Streaming Wars.
This past week has been the traditional busy time where everyone is trying to get their things in order before the holiday break, and that also happened to me. So many things to do, so little sleep. But I’m on the other side now, so hopefully, you’ll be soon too. Looking ahead, we have a few days before Christmas Day with a ton of new stuff, from Zack Snyder’s Star Wars wannabe Rebel Moon (which is getting destroyed by early reviews) to the event of the month for the Star Wars News Net *staff: the release of the Percy Jackson series on Disney Plus…

If you live in the US, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and either way, I hope you had a wonderful week. It wasn’t a holiday where I live, but I still enjoyed some time tuning out the news and the entertainment business (other than watching Napoleon on Friday) for a few days. And though it seemed like it would be a slow week for Star Wars, it was most definitely not, as Lucasfilm and Daisy Ridley dropped a one-two-punch on Tuesday. The effects of these stories reverberated into the weekend with more interviews from Dave Filoni and Taika Waititi. Let’s try to unpack it all!
Star Wars Quote of the Week
“It’s not what I expected, but I’m very excited,” Daisy Ridley told Collider in a recent chat discussing her new feature film, which will mark the return of Rey Skywalker in a story set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker. Rebel Force Radio congratulates the all-new 2023 NASCAR Cup champion Ryan Blaney, who drove the #12 to victory tonight and the Force was with him. Ryan is a huge STAR WARS fan and he called RFR back in 2017 during his first year as a Cup driver to discuss his fandom and speculate on the sequel trilogy.

A new lightsaber book has all the High Republic’s finest hilts, a comics adaptation puts Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader in the spotlight, and other news from the convention floor.
Some fan-favorite characters, including Master and apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, are about to embark on new adventures in Star Wars publishing.
At the New York Comic-Con 2023 Lucasfilm Publishing panel today, assembled authors Megan Crouse, Claudia Gray, Marc Guggenheim, E.K. Johnston, John Jackson Miller, Greg Pak, Ethan Saks, Charles Soule, Rosemary Soule, and Alyssa Wong joined host and Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain to give fans a glimpse at never-before-seen cover art, upcoming titles, and other news from books and comics. Among the announcements was a new Marvel adaptation that will explore Grand Admiral Thrawn’s alliance with Darth Vader, and a first look at a new lightsaber hilt that will give fans the chance to wield the blade of Stellan Gios. The Massive Entertainment creative director shares more about turning the galaxy far, far away into an open world.
It’s not easy for our favorite scoundrels to navigate the Star Wars underworld, but it sure looks like fun. Thankfully, Star Wars Outlaws, the first ever open-world Star Wars game from Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, promises to let players experience all the shady deals, backstabbing, and blaster shootouts for themselves. Coming in 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, Star Wars Outlaws puts fans in the role of Kay Vess, an up-and-comer in the seedy side of the galaxy. Following the game’s announcement in June that revealed a first look at gameplay, a new behind-the-scenes featurette just premiered at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 during a dedicated panel. The Lucasfilm Pavilion is hosting an exhibit of props, costumes, and behind-the-scenes elements from the series, arriving August 23 on Disney+.
