This Halloween, revisit the Star Wars saga’s most chilling moments.
The galaxy far, far away can be a scary place. From the second Darth Vader stepped onscreen in Star Wars: A New Hope — clad in black with a haunting mechanical breath, but calm, confident, and moving with purpose — it was clear that dangers abound in this cinematic world. The horrors would soon extend to slithery monsters, witches, and everything in between. As Halloween arrives, StarWars.com celebrates the bone-chilling side of the saga with a look at 13 of its scariest scenes…
With a wish for good luck, the former Master and apprentice part ways after a bittersweet reunion amid the final days of the Clone Wars
No one’s ever really gone, but in Star Wars — as in real life — sometimes a farewell has more finality than we at first realize.
We thought Ahsoka Tano and her Master Anakin Skywalker may have parted ways for good when Tano decided to leave the Jedi Order at the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5. Falsely accused of a brutal bombing at the Jedi Temple, Anakin’s faith in his Padawan never faltered, but we can’t say the same for her belief in the Jedi Order, or the Council’s support of one of their own. At the end of the ordeal, the Jedi apologized, but Ahsoka still decided to walk away, leaving her lightsabers and her friends behind…
The galaxy is home to many worlds. Some are better off passing by.
The Star Wars galaxy is home to many different types of planets. But not all are as picturesque as Naboo, or exciting Coruscant. Some are home to ancient evils, some are even home to witches. As we enjoy the creepiest time of year, here’s a closer look at six of the scariest Star Wars planets. Next time you visit the galaxy far, far away, set your coordinates elsewhere!…

The writer speaks with StarWars.com about his new anthology of scary Star Wars stories.
For writer Cavan Scott, there’s no mystery as to why Halloween and Star Wars go so well together.
“Ask anyone who has gone trick or treating as Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker!” he tells StarWars.com. “Star Wars has been scary from the start. I mean, there’s a werewolf in the cantina. And that’s before you get to wampas, witches, and brain worms!”
He would know. Scott has turned spine-tingling Star Wars stories into an annual Halloween tradition, writing several all-ages comic book anthologies over the last few years. And he has returned from the depths (of his busy schedule) for a new creepy collection…

The Nightsisters are a mysterious coven of witches, strong with dark magicks and hailing from Dathomir. Introduced in the 1994 Legends novel The Courtship of Princess Leia by Dave Wolverton, the Nightsisters have left their mark on the Star Wars galaxy in unexplainable and mystical ways, with memorable appearances in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, the Star Wars Jedi games, and most recently, Ahsoka.
The Nightsisters’ frightening meddling has known no bounds, causing strife for the Jedi and Sith alike. So in the spirit of Halloween season, we’re taking a look at some of the Nightsisters’ most shocking moments…

The author of the new YA novel discusses the magic of key characters from Solo: A Star Wars Story and more.
Star Wars: Crimson Climb, a new YA novel arriving October 10, follows Qi’ra’s journey from White Worm scrumrat to Crimson Dawn mercenary. In a special guest article to celebrate the book’s release, author E.K. Johnston takes readers inside the making of the untold story with 5 behind-the-pages secrets.
1. Crimson Climb is the most fun I’ve ever had writing Star Wars.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved writing Ahsoka and Padmé (and company), but there was something really exciting about working with this particular cast. I think it’s that I was very free in terms of the timeline (not the case in Ahsoka where my window was super tight), and I wasn’t inevitably headed for tragedy (THAT WE KNOW OF, I’M WATCHING YOU, CHARLES SOULE). Qi’ra isn’t like any other main character I’ve built a story around. She was never going to do the nice thing or the good thing or the right thing. She was always going to do the best thing for her, and that is pretty great in terms of plot generation and character dynamics. I loved building her a nemesis and setting her up against Dryden Vos, knowing where they’re all headed. Also, I may have put in a little bit of LEGO…
The season finale of Ahsoka, “Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord,” takes us on a heart-stopping race against time to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn from escaping a galaxy far, far away. See below for new stills from the latest installment, now streaming on Disney+…
Ahsoka Tano and her friends try to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn’s escape in the thrilling season finale.
Sabine Wren has succeeded even as she’s failed. She found her friend Ezra Bridger and helped propel him in the direction home. She learned to stand by her Master, Ahsoka Tano. And despite what certain ancient droids say — cough, Huyang, cough — she has shown tremendous potential as a Jedi apprentice.
In the captivating Ahsoka season finale, “Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord,” now streaming on Disney+, Morgan Elsbeth embraced the gift of shadows, the Great Mothers resurrected the dead as part of their reign of terror, and Ezra Bridger finally made the quantum leap to get back to his space mom, Hera Syndulla. Unfortunately…he hitched a ride with the enemy. Here are seven highlights from the finale of Ahsoka…

Ahsoka looks to save her friends, while Thrawn’s plans near fruition.
Ezra, Sabine, Ahsoka, Thrawn, and the purrgil. It’s just like old times.
With Sabine finally locating Ezra (and some new friends in the turtle-like Noti), and Thrawn preparing for his return, it’s now up to Ahsoka to reach them all in “Part Seven: Dreams and Madness.” Ahsoka’s cunning and determinedness meets Thrawn’s masterful calculations, while our heroes get their second-round rematches, all setting the stage for an epic finale. Here five highlights…
The rebel’s hideout is filled with callbacks connecting Ahsoka to Star Wars Rebels.
Once a rebel, always a rebel.
Sabine Wren first burst into our lives nearly a decade ago in Star Wars Rebels as an energetic Mandalorian teen with a penchant for art and anarchy. With her live-action debut in the new Disney+ series Ahsoka earlier this year, filmmakers made her colorful personality a reality. Showrunner Dave Filoni and production designers curated nods to her Rebels start throughout her makeshift bedroom in the tower on Lothal. Although Sabine left Ezra’s home world in the dust when she set off for adventure with her former Master Ahsoka Tano, StarWars.com has taken a peek inside to check up on her Loth-cat and confirm these 12 Easter eggs fans can find when rewatching the series…
Lucasfilm Games’ Matthew Fillbrandt looks back at two Star Wars video game classics as they celebrate milestones.
Most who love Star Wars have wondered what it’s like to be a Jedi. Wielding a lightsaber, discovering abilities through the Force, traveling the galaxy. Who wouldn’t want to do all that?
And maybe that’s why certain Star Wars video games live on, as the best of the best bring players into that fantasy in ways no other medium can. Two such titles recently celebrated anniversaries — Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and The Force Unleashed, marking 20 and 15 years, respectively — and continue to resonate. Jedi Academy was the fifth entry in a first-person shooter series that started with Dark Forces, evolving to include Force powers and lightsaber action; The Force Unleashed was a major undertaking story-wise and technologically, telling an original tale of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, Starkiller, with combat and Force elements never before seen in a game. Both came from LucasArts (now Lucasfilm Games), and remain beloved, seeing re-releases and remasters through the years that bring them to new generations.
To celebrate these classics’ milestone anniversaries, StarWars.com spoke Matthew Fillbrandt, executive director, product development of Lucasfilm Games, who was present for the development of both games. Fillbrandt shared his memories from the making of each and his thoughts on why we’re still talking about them all these years later…

Grand Admiral Thrawn returns in the latest episode of the thrilling new series.
Grand Admiral Thrawn has been biding his time in exile, awaiting the moment when Morgan Elsbeth would make good on her promise to find him.
In “Part Six: Far, Far Away,” now streaming on Disney+, the fearsome Chiss makes his debut in live action, with a methodical stride and an army of creepy Night Troopers, led by Captain Enoch. But where’s Ezra? It’ll take Sabine Wren, a docile howler, and a whole encampment of friendly Noti to answer that. Here are five highlights from the latest installment of Ahsoka…
Industrial Light & Magic model maker John Goodson gives us a closer look at the complexities at work in the tiny craft fabricated for Ahsoka’s Jedi shuttle on Ahsoka.
There was something strikingly familiar about Ahsoka Tano’s Jedi shuttle, the T-6 1974. “I already know this ship,” model maker John Goodson thought as he set to work building the craft that would transport Tano and Professor Huyang on their first live-action adventure in Ahsoka, now on Disney+.
However, the physical creation of Tano’s shuttle was its own journey, bringing the unique mode of transportation first created for the Jedi of the prequels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars back to the screen with a painstakingly crafted and intricately mechanized model….
The world-renowned artist speaks to StarWars.com about his new collaboration with Sideshow and Lucasfilm.
There can be beauty in decay. Daniel Arsham has won fans around the world by making this idea an art form all his own: he creates sculptures, often pulled from pop culture iconography, that look as if they’ve been found on the ocean floor after thousands of years, crystals forming throughout. And he sees a connection there with Star Wars.
“George Lucas’ version of the future felt real. It felt worn out a little bit, and this was very different from [typical] depictions of spacecraft and even aliens or other characters,” he tells StarWars.com. “So I feel that my future relic or future archeology series has some similarities with that.”…

Coming off Part Four’s insane cliffhanger, “Part Five: Shadow Warrior” finds Ahsoka apparently in the World Between Worlds and face-to-face with her old Master, Anakin Skywalker. Meanwhile, Hera tries to make sense of what might’ve happened to the Jedi and Sabine. If you ever loved Star Wars: The Clone Wars or the team of Anakin and Ahsoka, it’s hard not to be moved by “Shadow Warrior” — an exploration and celebration of their relationship and, within it, teaching and sacrifice. Here are five highlights from the episode, written and directed by Dave Filoni….
