The Ghost Comes to Life

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

StarWars.com catches up with Hasbro designer Chris Reiff about bringing the iconic starship to toy collectors.

The Ghost was first introduced in the animated Star Wars Rebels as the ship and home base for the new heroes of the Spectre crew. Piloted by Hera Syndulla, the Ghost went on missions across the galaxy, helping to build a burgeoning Rebellion in the early days of its fight against the Empire. The Ghost quickly became a fan favorite and a character itself, much like the Millennium Falcon before it.

Since then, it’s been glimpsed briefly in live-action, both at the Yavin IV base during Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and at the Battle of Exegol in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. But it has not appeared in its full glory in live-action until now, with the Ahsoka series on Disney+. And the Ghost is coming to life in another major way…

Ahsoka Analyzed: Parts 1 & 2

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

5 Highlights from “Part One: Master and Apprentice”

For Ahsoka Tano and a generation of Star Wars fans, this has been a long time coming.

Introduced 15 years ago in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, Ahsoka (voiced by Ashley Eckstein) was the spunky Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. She grew up over the course of the show — with her audience — and a devoted following emerged. The character returned in Star Wars Rebels, to much delight, playing a key role in the formation of the Rebel Alliance and tussling with her former Master, now Darth Vader. Ahsoka would pop up again in various storytelling, including a jump to live-action in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Played by Rosario Dawson, this Ahsoka was both sage and warrior, with a commanding presence on the screen. And now here we are.

Ahsoka has arrived on Disney+, the brainchild of executive producer, writer, and director Dave Filoni — co-creator of Ahsoka Tano alongside George Lucas, and shepherd of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, as well as a key creative force behind The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. As such, Ahsoka continues not just the story of the title character, but that of the Ghost crew from Star Wars Rebels. (And to see them in live-action is kind of amazing.)

With “Master and Apprentice,” the first episode of Ahsoka, Tano is picking up her search for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger, both last seen disappearing into space (courtesy of hyperspace-traveling purrgil creatures) at the end of Star Wars Rebels. But old wounds remain for Sabine Wren, Ahsoka’s former Jedi student, and powerful new enemies emerge in Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati. More than just an opening act, “Master and Apprentice” delivers emotional stakes, stellar action, and a classic Star Wars tone in cinematic feel and dialogue. Here are five highlights…

5 Highlights from “Part Two: Toil and Trouble”

Double, double, “Toil and Trouble.” We sense a presence we haven’t felt in some time, as Morgan Elsbeth utilizes Dathomir magick to aide in her search for Grand Admiral Thrawn in the second episode of Ahsoka, now streaming on Disney+. And while she looks to reconnect with the Heir to the Empire, Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper chase down an Imperial remnant of their own while trying to piece together what Elsbeth is really up to with that giant hyperdrive. Star Wars Rebels fans will recognize the moment where Sabine and Ahsoka reunite, ready to find their friend, but you don’t have to have watched the animated series to understand the complicated relationship between Master and apprentice, beautifully explored through their tense interactions in the series so far. Here are five highlights…

Meet the Visionaries: Ishan Shukla and Milind D. Shinde

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

The creators behind the Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 short discuss their tale of siblings on the run.

Star Wars: Visions Volume 2’s look to global perspectives brought in 88 Pictures, who took the opportunity to highlight Indian culture in “The Bandits of Golak” through music, setting, character design, and more. The seventh episode of Volume 2 follows the story of Force-sensitive Rani and her brother Charuk as they make their way across the desert world of Golak. The siblings have left home in an effort to hide Rani’s abilities from the Empire and face difficulties on their journey to their final destination — a motel at the end of a tense train ride.

When it came to finding a springboard for “The Bandits of Golak,” director Ishan Shukla dug into his own experience. “The direct inspiration comes from some of my personal experiences. From the early concepts, it was clear that having an India-inspired train and a highway dhaba [motel] would make this a memorable and unique spectacle,” Shukla tells StarWars.com. “So with those two pillars in mind, I started retro-fitting the siblings’ journey in the script.”…
