The actor and longtime member of the Lucasfilm family passed away this weekend
We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of our dear friend Ray Stevenson. Ray was an incredible combination of talent, warmth, humor, and heart.
We were lucky to have Ray join the Star Wars galaxy as Gar Saxon in Star Wars Rebels and then more recently as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka. His ability to play a villain, while being such a kind and caring person in reality, is a testament to his incredible talent…

A Guide to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi’s Deleted Scenes
They may have been cut from the final film, but you can watch them all on Disney+.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi arrived in theaters on May 25, 1983, bringing an end to the original trilogy in memorable fashion. Marking its 40th anniversary, StarWars.com presents “Jedi at 40,” a series of articles celebrating the film that brought us Jabba’s palace, Ewoks, Luke Skywalker’s final confrontation with the Emperor and Darth Vader, and so much more.
It’s always a good time to revisit Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, especially when the film is enjoying its 40th anniversary. But while many scenes are fun to watch on repeat — from searching the shadows of Jabba’s Palace to discover new creatures to attempting to identify all the Ewoks on Endor — if you’re watching Return of the Jedi on Disney+, don’t overlook the moments that didn’t make the film’s final cut. These five sequences feature footage of the main heroes and villains of the film, lesser-known characters like Moff Jerjerrod, and extras who never made it onscreen…
Punkrobot’s story of Force-sensitive sisters delivers action and emotion.
Hope and family are constant themes in Star Wars, and Punkrobot’s Star Wars: Visions short, “In the Stars,” is a beautiful exploration of those motifs. The story follows two orphaned sisters, Koten and Tichina, who have seen the Empire pillage their planet and destroy their people, including their mother. While Koten has grown somewhat cynical, the younger Tichina still believes they can win, and finally challenges their occupiers. Directed by Gabriel Osorio Vargas, “In the Stars” was created with gorgeous stop-motion animation, and pulls at the heartstrings with a layered script. Here are five highlights from “In the Stars,” now streaming on Disney+…
The horror-infused short from Cartoon Saloon brings the lore of the banshee into the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: Visions Volume 2.
Just as the island of Skellig Michael’s rocky coast and humble huts made the perfect setting for the watery world of Ahch-To in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the striking terrain of nearby County Kerry in Ireland inspired the creators at Cartoon Saloon. But Screecher’s Reach is more than a moody landscape. Merging tales of banshees from Irish folklore, the red-bladed lightsabers of the Sith, and a naïve young protagonist who feels destined for greater things, director Paul Young elegantly infuses “Screecher’s Reach” with modern Star Wars mythology amid an intimate journey of personal discovery. Daal, it would appear, is familiar with neither the Jedi nor the Sith. But in her, external forces see great potential. And once she’s traveled to Screecher’s Reach and faced her trial, nothing will ever be the same. Here are five highlights from “Screecher’s Reach,” now streaming on Disney+…
The Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 director discusses his ambitious short about a former dark-side devotee who must confront her past.
Meet the Visionaries is a StarWars.com series of interviews with the directors of Star Wars: Visions Volume 2, now streaming on Disney+.
“Sith” is the first new short film that audiences will see when starting their Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 journey. Written and directed by animation veteran Rodrigo Blaas, with incredible work from his Spain-based El Guiri Studios, “Sith” follows the Force-sensitive (and former Sith) Lola and her trusty droid E2, who both live on an isolated world and are searching for artistic inspiration. But this peaceful life does not last; Lola’s old master tracks her down, leading to an ultimate duel between them. Through it all, “Sith” provides an incredible experience that is visually unlike anything seen in Star Wars.
Before work on this project began, Blaas’ career was filled with numerous highlights, with work on movies at Pixar, including WALL-E, Up, and Brave, as well as creating Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia with Guillermo del Toro. The path to a galaxy far, far away, however, began with a simple phone call. …
Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 kicks off with thrilling action and a unique take on the Force.
One of the biggest — and most welcome — surprises to come from Lucasfilm in recent years has been Star Wars: Visions. In the first season, or volume, of the series, the company set some of Japan’s best anime studios free in the Star Wars galaxy, untethered to previous storytelling or any established style. The results were creative and original, with takes on Star Wars that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. Thankfully, the show is back, and it’s only expanded on its promise.
Volume 2, which arrived on May the 4th, casts a wider net, with studios of various disciplines from all over the world telling new stories. El Guiri Studios’ “Sith” opens Volume 2, and one has to imagine that was an intentional choice. Like a great opening track on an album, it makes a statement about the series and Volume 2 — that it’s different, that it has something to say, that chances will be taken. Directed by Rodrigo Blaas, “Sith” follows Lola, a former servant of the dark side trying to start anew. The short makes striking use of color to illustrate its themes, as Lola sees the world as a blank canvas, her struggle to find balance illustrated in her attempts to paint. It also has some fantastic action. “Sith” is everything Visions is meant to be, and a memorable Star Wars tale to boot. Here are five highlights from “Sith,” now streaming on Disney+…

t’s becoming something of a tradition. In 2022, Lucasfilm and Volkswagen joined forces for the launch of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+, including two ID. Buzz cars that debuted at last year’s Star Wars Celebration. Lucasfilm VP and creative director Doug Chiang — one of Star Wars’ most impactful designers, and also a car enthusiast — enjoyed working on the project so much that he didn’t want the collaboration to end.
“Last year’s campaign was so successful, and I had so much fun designing the wraps for the Obi-Wan cars, where we did the light side and the dark side,” he tells StarWars.com. “So this time we thought it would be terrific if we could come up with another idea.”…

Rick Famuyiwa on Helping to Helm The Mandalorian Season 3
The executive producer and episodic director on the Disney+ series takes us back to the birth of Grogu and looks ahead as Season 3 continues to unfold.
Rick Famuyiwa feels like he’s graduated. After joining The Mandalorian in Season 1, where he directed “Chapter 2: The Child,” — among the first people in the world to discover the character that would come to be known as Grogu, — he’s ascended to the role of executive producer, alongside creator and executive producer Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni, and director of three episodes in Season 3 of the Disney+ series.
“I mean, it’s both exciting and unbelievable,” Famuyiwa tells StarWars.com. As a child, the first film Famuyiwa saw in theaters was Star Wars, so being invited to contribute to the galaxy far, far away has brought his fandom full circle. “I still, to this moment, go back and go, you know, ‘You had no idea when you went to watch this movie as a kid that somehow you would be part of telling a Star Wars story.’ It’s still kind of mind blowing to me that it happened,” he adds with a laugh. “It’s been a part of my life so long. What I loved about it was the instant connection it gave me to a lot of other people that loved the world.”…

The actor who portrays Omega tells StarWars.com about her character’s emotional journey in the heartbreaking two-episode finale.
Spoiler warning: This article contains plot details from the two-episode Season 2 finale of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, “The Summit” and “Plan 99.”
Plan 99 has been executed, and with it, Omega’s world shattered. But just when it seemed things couldn’t get any worse for Clone Force 99…the Empire arrived on Ord Mantell.
As Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch came to a poignant end this week, the team was torn apart, with Omega — the emotional center of the squad — trapped at the epicenter of the chaos and kidnapped by Imperial scientists. Behind the scenes, Michelle Ang says the harrowing finale is her favorite episode of the season, a rollercoaster that challenged Omega and the actor behind her, and introduced Ang to two new colleagues — Jimmi Simpson as the nefarious Dr. Royce Hemlock and fellow New Zealander Keisha Castle-Hughes as the mysterious Dr. Emerie Karr. “It’s so gut-wrenching,” Ang tells StarWars.com. “I love the fun missions, don’t get me wrong. But the emotional ones are always the ones that I like to watch best. And also, the ones that I love recording the most.”
Recently, Ang sat down with StarWars.com to discuss her character’s journey in the series so far, and finding the right balance between Omega’s grief and surviving Tech’s haunting sacrifice…
