I started by re-watching the original movies with a sketchbook on my lap, and just sort of went from there.”

In this installment of the Star Wars 100 Interviews archive, we speak with Jamel Boukabou about his incredible “triple threat” experience on the set of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
Jamel holds a unique place in Star Wars history as the performer behind three distinct roles in a single film, spanning from the heights of Coruscant to the sands of Tatooine.
The First Tusken to Fall The centerpiece of this interview focuses on the fateful night at the Tusken camp. Jamel played the Tusken Raider standing guard to the left of the tent where Shmi Skywalker was held. He shares the chilling details of being the very first Tusken to be slaughtered by Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber, marking the character’s first true step toward becoming Darth Vader.
From Naboo to the Outer Rim Beyond the Tusken camp, Jamel touches on his other roles in the film:
Naboo Royal Guard: He was part of the royal escort team that was tragically blown up during the assassination attempt on Senator Amidala at the start of the film.
The Mystery Quarren: Jamel also portrayed a Quarren during the production. Despite reviewing the footage of every Quarren in the film, the exact identity of this background character remains a mystery to be solved by the fans.

Synopsis: (3 years after Episode IV) Three years after the destruction of the Death Star, Imperial forces continue to pursue the Rebels. After the Rebellion’s defeat on the ice planet Hoth, Luke journeys to the planet Dagobah to train with Jedi Master Yoda, who has lived in hiding since the fall of the Republic. In an attempt to convert Luke to the dark side, Darth Vader lures young Skywalker into a trap in the Cloud City of Bespin. In the midst of a fierce lightsaber duel with the Sith Lord, Luke faces the startling revelation that the evil Vader is in fact his father, Anakin Skywalker.

It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursued them across the galaxy.
Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker have established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth.
The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker, has dispatched thousands of remote probes into the far reaches of space….

When Kathleen Kennedy left her position as president of Lucasfilm last week, she left behind a ton of Star Wars projects in various states of production. From James Mangold’s “Dawn of the Jedi” and Dave Filoni’s Mandoverse epic, to potential films from Simon Kinberg, Taika Waititi, Steven Soderberg, Donald Glover and more, we look closely at that long list and try to determine which films may still actually happen under the supervision of Lucasfilm’s new regime. With a velvety growl, Maul himself invites you to look more closely at a galaxy reshaped by the Empire in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. Today, the first teaser trailer and poster for the animated series arrived, giving fans our first glimpse at the world of Janix and the machinations of the underworld playing out in an era near the beginning of Emperor Palpatine’s reign.
Beginning with a two-episode premiere on Disney+ April 6, 2026, and two episodes each week leading to a finale on Star Wars Day, May the 4th, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord picks up after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, for a pulpy adventure that finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who may just be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge….

For three seasons, we followed along with Star Wars: The Clone Wars spinoff THE BAD BATCH and all of their adventures. Among the troopers was the young clone Omega, who quickly emerged as one of the most likeable Star Wars characters to come along in quite a while. After years of speculation, Kathleen Kennedy has officially stepped down as President of Lucasfilm and handed over the reins to new Co-Presidents Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan. For those attuned to the Force, this news wasn’t shocking, although it has raised concerns among some fans about the future of a galaxy far, far away. Despite the inevitable backlash to Filoni’s hiring customary to a fan base no stranger to toxicity, we think Lucasfilm’s succession plan is not only the logical one, but the most promising one – a plan that will put Star Wars into hyperdrive by simultaneously honoring the past and charting star systems never before seen.
Over the last decade, the very mention of Dave Filoni’s name has become disparagingly synonymous with a certain flavor of Star Wars storytelling. One only has to scroll absent-mindedly through Star Wars Twitter/X to see users poke fun at a predicted future for the franchise involving wild cameos, an over-reliance on nostalgia, projects that require a deep knowledge of Star Wars lore as a prerequisite for viewing, and lots and lots of Ahsoka Tano. All of these jabs woefully simplify Filoni’s contributions to Star Wars and overlook his genuine craft as a storyteller and filmmaker…
