When composer Mick Giacchino first got the call to write the score for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the new live-action series debuting on Disney+ December 3, it was a pinch-me moment to work on a franchise he’s loved since childhood. “I wanted to ensure that this was a show where you get to really put yourself in these characters’ shoes because most of us grew up with Star Wars and our dreams were to be those kids and blast off on some adventure,” he tells StarWars.com. “I’m still pinching myself about it. It’s so exciting!”
One of the only people he told, prior to this announcement, was his father. Acclaimed composer Michael Giacchino had worked with series creators Jon Watts and Chris Ford on the Spider-Man franchise as well as scoring Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so he had some sound advice from his own experience. “From the beginning, he said, essentially, ‘Just remember to have fun with it,’ especially given the nature of the show. He was very supportive,” Mick recalls….

Spider-Man’s Jon Watts is once again uniting with Homecoming writer Christopher Ford to assemble a rag-tag crew of heroes and villains, with a typically diverse cast set to make their mark on the franchise.
Telling a story concurrent to Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and following the fall of the Empire, eagle-eyed fans are looking for our first tease of the Skeleton Crew potentially rubbing shoulders with Din Djarin.
Here’s everything we know about Skeleton Crew so far…
The Mandalorian caused a major shift in Lucasfilm’s Star Wars strategy. No longer were movies its focus—now all eyes were on Disney+. Of course, there was Pedro Pascal’s Mando, with both The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi following. Ahsoka and The Acolyte are also on the way. Among all of these upcoming offerings, however, is one that was a surprise to many: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
The series stars Jude Law, alongside three other kid actors (Ravi Cabot-Conyers and Kryiana Kratter rumored to be amongst them) and is created by both Jon Watts and Chris Ford. The entire idea of the show was pitched to Jon Favreau by Jon Watts during the production of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The only plot information known to the wider world is that it will take place around the same timeline as The Mandalorian and follow a group of kids lost in the galaxy, trying to make their way back home.
There’s only been one proper look at the series, which was thanks was a single photo from D23 that didn’t reveal all too much. Now, thanks to a video from the set, fans have a new peek behind the curtain….
