Plan 99 has been executed, and with it, Omega’s world shattered. But just when it seemed things couldn’t get any worse for Clone Force 99…the Empire arrived on Ord Mantell.
As Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch came to a poignant end this week, the team was torn apart, with Omega — the emotional center of the squad — trapped at the epicenter of the chaos and kidnapped by Imperial scientists. Behind the scenes, Michelle Ang says the harrowing finale is her favorite episode of the season, a rollercoaster that challenged Omega and the actor behind her, and introduced Ang to two new colleagues — Jimmi Simpson as the nefarious Dr. Royce Hemlock and fellow New Zealander Keisha Castle-Hughes as the mysterious Dr. Emerie Karr. “It’s so gut-wrenching,” Ang tells StarWars.com. “I love the fun missions, don’t get me wrong. But the emotional ones are always the ones that I like to watch best. And also, the ones that I love recording the most.”
Recently, Ang sat down with StarWars.com to discuss her character’s journey in the series so far, and finding the right balance between Omega’s grief and surviving Tech’s haunting sacrifice…
The actor talks to StarWars.com about her mysterious Imperial scientist and the game-changing reveal to close out Season 2.
Spoiler warning: This article contains plot details from the two-episode Season 2 finale of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, “The Summit” and “Plan 99.”
When Keisha Castle-Hughes landed the role of Doctor Emerie Karr, an Imperial scientist introduced in the second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, she was told very little about the character. But one piece of direction hinted that there was a deeper significance to the part.
“I mean, the big giveaway for me was that they had asked me to use my natural accent, and Michelle Ang as Omega uses her natural accent, as well,” the New Zealand-native tells StarWars.com. “And so I immediately was like, ‘Okay, so we can assume that these people are from the same place and we are going to reveal some kind of history there.’”
The Disney+ show’s creators, however, still weren’t telling. “They’d say, ‘Oh, maybe that could be exciting if you thought about it that way,’” Castle-Hughes adds, laughing…

We reunited with Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, and Omega, in the two-part premiere “Spoils of War” and “Ruins of War,” which took us back to Serenno in search of Count Dooku’s war chest. In “The Solitary Clone,” Commander Cody and Crosshair went on their own mission for the Imperial regime. This season, Clone Force 99 has been on several heart-pumping missions in “Faster” and “Entombed,” and “Tribe.” With the latest episodes taking us back to the heart of the Empire, Coruscant, for “The Clone Conspiracy” and “Truth & Consequences,” the season takes a tumultuous turn for the galaxy at large and the fate of every clone soldier.

As the second season nears an exciting two-part finale, the art director for the series delves into the creative process and the subtle storytelling of color.
It was a time of isolation. The COVID pandemic had forced strict stay-at-home orders across the country, and the team working on Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch was scattered, connecting through virtual calls to collaborate. But the real-world strife proved to be artistic fodder as the designers worked from afar.
“It’s an interesting mirror to when the episodes were created and what, collectively, we were going through as a society and as a planet, really,” Andre Kirk, the art director for the series, tells StarWars.com. “And what came out of that? Either something very optimistic or something very bleak.”…
The latest episode of The Bad Batch was not what I was expecting to see after The Outpost, but I still thought it was a beautiful and moving episode. A nice rest before the final three episodes, that could have ramifications for the end of the entire series.
Crosshair is back in the spotlight this week as his loyalty to the Empire continues to be tested. Join us as we discuss this latest episode with your thoughts, theories and observations.
The Bad Batch is CRUSHING it lately! The latest episode, titled The Outpost, quickly became a new favorite episode of the series for me, once again centering on Crosshair and another new, great clone named Mayday.
The Bad Batch is convinced to go on another job for Cid. And it involves the answer to a question Star Wars fans have had for YEARS! This was the perfect example of how this series can pull off a standalone adventure of the week that still connects back to the larger story.

Over the past two decades, the downfall of the Republic had been well-documented in a variety of movies, television shows, comics, and books. In Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, for instance, we first saw the covert holograms of Darth Sidious ordering Order 66, Palpatine declaring himself Emperor in front of the Senate, and the construction of the first Death Star. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, we learned more about inhibitor chips, the plans for the clone army, and more of the Sith lord’s machinations.
And now, in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, there is a previously un-glimpsed look at what comes immediately after: the first days of the Galactic Empire. It is told with fascinating moments of world-building and a deeper look into the larger galaxy. As its second season unfolds on Disney+, StarWars.com now takes a look at The Bad Batch and the insights that it has brought so far into that tumultuous time…
If there’s one thing we know about Echo, its that he won’t just sit still and let the world go on without him. We take a look at Echo’s personality and past history and why he was always destined to leave the Bad Batch.
We start the back half of THE BAD BATCH season 2 with another mission of the week as Clone Force 99 attempts to extract an unstable element from a hostile world. Be sure to watch, listen, comment, chat and call in with your thoughts and observations
