Filoni Named Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer

Source: Hollywood Reporter – Film

Dave Filoni is expanding his footprint in a galaxy far, far away. The longtime Star Wars force has been named chief creative officer at Lucasfilm.

“In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways,” Filoni told Vanity Fair, which broke the news.

Filoni will now be involved in the early development on Star Wars projects, working with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and head of development Carrie Beck….

Favreau and Filoni Chart a Course to Mandalore

Here’s the latest from: StarWars.Com

By Kristin Baver

It’s immediately apparent that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have worked together off and on for more than 15 years as they settle in for a joint interview ahead of The Mandalorian’s Season 3 premiere on Disney+.

Sometimes Favreau, the creator and executive producer of the series, begins a sentence and Filoni, also an executive producer, finishes the thought. They often erupt into laughter, in awe of their good fortune and a collaboration that began at Skywalker Ranch when Favreau was mixing Iron Man, the film that would launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Filoni was working on the first season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. “We’re fortunate, you know,” Filoni tells StarWars.com. “Between Jon and I, we get along like we’re playing with our old Kenner toys.”…

Filoni: Sabine Actress Perfect For Ahsoka

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

Under the leadership of Star Wars guru Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm is in preparations for the latest addition to the Disney+ universe with Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka.

With this new series following up on the former Jedi’s journey from both The Clone Wars and Rebels, Lucasfilm will give fans their first live-action variations of a couple of widely popular heroes on Disney+. One of those comes with a fan-favorite Mandalorian, Sabine Wren, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo as she and Ahsoka reunite for the first time away from the animated sphere.

Although she initially had no idea that she was auditioning for such an important role, Bordizzo prepared heavily for her introduction to the Mandoverse, with Filoni praising her work ethic and her fit in the role.

Now, Filoni has doubled down on that praise, sharing exactly why the young woman playing Sabine Wren is the right pick for the job….

Dave Filoni Defends Star Wars’ ‘Flexible’ Tone Amid Criticism

Here’s the latest from: The Direct – Star Wars

In talking with Entertainment Weekly at Star Wars Celebration in May, Dave Filoni addressed potential concern about recent Star Wars projects being more of the same, saying, “you look at Obi-Wan, you look at Mando, you look at Boba. They all do have a different feeling, a different tone:”

“We love seeing the development of all these series and how from the new show we’re doing with Jon Watts, Skeleton Crew, and… but when you look at Andor and you look at Obi-Wan, you look at Mando, you look at Boba. They all do have a different feeling, a different tone, and I think that’s remarkable, and really speaks to the serialized nature of Star Wars, and how it can be a very flexible galaxy. I mean, it is a galaxy, so there’s so many stories to tell that it’s exciting. But I don’t know yet. I’m waiting to see a little more as I put together what that tone becomes, because it’s evolving right now. It’s evolving.”

Star Wars is certainly evolving and expanding. In 2022 alone, Lucasfilm released the conclusion of The Book of Boba Fett, followed by Obi-Wan Kenobi, and with Andor on the way….

Filoni Feels Responsible To Preserve And Continue Lucas’ Philosophy

Here’s the latest from: SWNN

During Star Wars Celebration, Entertainment Weekly had the chance to sit down with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, and the outlet recently released the video from that discussion. They talked about how the work they are doing on Disney Plus is extending the legacy of Star Wars and what George Lucas created, and how Filoni has become Lucas’ heir at the company, essentially growing into a Jedi master himself.

Filoni started by saying how the entire lineup of Star Wars shows for Disney Plus is so different in tone, and how that speaks volumes to how malleable the Star Wars franchise is while its core values are still kept intact:

“We love seeing the development of all these series, you know? From the new show we are doing with Jon Watts, Skeleton Crew, but when you look at Andor, you look at Obi-Wan, you look at Mando, you look at Boba… They all do have a different feeling and a different tone, and I think that’s remarkable and really speaks to the serialized nature of Star Wars and how it can be a very flexible galaxy. I mean, it is a galaxy, so there are so many stories to tell and it’s exciting for that.”…
